According to numerous reports, the Mets have landed right-handed pitchers Kris Benson from the Pittsburgh Pirates and Victor Zambrano from the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in two separate deals Friday.

In exchange, New York sent Ty Wigginton and pitching prospect Matt Peterson along with catching prospect Justin Huber to Kansas City, which then turned around and shipped Wigginton and Peterson along with the Royals' third baseman Jose Bautista to Pittsburgh. In addition to Benson, the Mets also got minor leaguer Jeff Keppinger from the Pirates.

In a separate deal, the Mets sent prized pitching prospect Scott Kazmir and Double-A pitcher Jose Diaz to the Devil Rays for Zambrano and Triple-A pitcher Batolome Fortunado.

Benson is 8-8 with a 4.22 ERA in 20 starts this season, and Zambrano boasts a 9-7 mark with a 4.43 ERA in 22 starts.

Well, Peterson says he is going get Zambrano and Benson up to par.

I wish they didn't give up Kazmir.

Wigginton was very sad in that interview. "It was an honor to put on a Mets uniform". Wow, now I feel terrible that I never liked him....

Yea I saw the Wiggy interview and feel bad for the guy, I actually like the Benson deal IF the mets can sign him to a deal

The Zambrano deal was awful, I hope Kazmir comes up strong and sticks it to Wilpon and the Mets

screw Wilpon, look at what we just did
all for a run at what? 7 games out and under .500
typical panic move

I have been playing Benson for the last 2 months. Should I be concerned now? Keep him or drop him?

See how he dose in his start tomorrow. If he sucks drop him off the 59th street bridge. If not have him stand on the brooklyn bridge.

Kazmir's delivery and (im)maturity has been bothering the Mets' brass of late. When we first got him, a lot of people were surprised because they said that he reminded them of Billy Wagner. Billy Wagner has spent a lot of time on the DL. In fact, right now, he's on it for the second time this year.

I don't know too much about Benson. Do you guys think he can handle the pressure of pitching in NY? I've been hearing his wife likes to call the local radio stations and complain about everything. He's starting tonight in Ratlanta, let's see how he does.

Whatever you have heard about anna benson, isn't true. I NEVER heard her call any local stations here in PIttsburgh.

Kris can be a hell of a pitcher. He has been one of the top 10 pitchers in the National League over the past 2 months.
