The Mets were not done trying to deal after making their splash by acquiring starters Kris Benson and Victor Zambrano. They've been trying to trade Cliff Floyd, according to a member of the organization, and believed they almost had a deal with the Rangers, perhaps including Scott Erickson. The Floyd portion fell through because of complicated issues involving his salary and doesn't appear to have been impacted by his public statements this week that he feels so bad physically he is already contemplating his retirement.

The Mets were believed to be dangling deposed starter Jae Seo in search of a reliever on the advice of Mets pitching coach Rick Peterson, who has wielded major influence as the deadline has approached.

So it looks like they are trying to deal Floyd which isn't a bad move but they better get a bat to replace him in the offseason or maybe surprise us with someone yet again

I hadn't heard about Floyd being on the block. He's too valuable to the overall success of the team. I don't think he'd be given up.

But with his statements about wanting to retire, I think he's here to stay. :D

They traded Erickson for a player to be named later.

I would miss Floyd, honestly, he is happy to be here and that is half the battle

The fact is he can't be productive when he is constantly in pain and thinking about retiring or being traded so he can be a DH
I love Floyd's atitude and his hardcore attitude for even playing through his pain but he is very unproductive and hopefully something is worked out in the offseason and he is replaced by a solid bat

Floyd is a great guy all around. He is a good hitter but watching him in Left is a damn adventure. I'm glad Cliff is still here.
