Today was a big day, Nomar leaving Boston for Chicago, but what really pissed me off was the deal that involved Steve Finley and Brent Mayne going to LA for prospects. PROSPECTS. You can get a lot more than prospects for Steve Finley. You can get a halfway decent outfielder. You can get a halfway decent pitcher. You can get.....well, you got the idea. You can get a halfway decent player. But, Joe Garagiola Jr is too busy with his head in his ass to care. This is among the lines of Worst.....Deal.....Ever. It is one of the worst deals in team history, I can tell you that. And we've had a lot of those in the past year, havent we. I hope Steve Finley sticks it to the D-Backs the next time we play the Dodgers. I hope. Steve Finley was having the best year of his career, and we trade him for prospects. Its like that Doors song, except with different lyrics. Example: Joe Jr, I want to kill you, Joe Jr, I want to (lyrics unintelligible, but I think he's saying f**k you). Anyway, Joe Garagiola needs to be fired immediately and subjected to the worst torture of his life. Case closed. Im out.

But, if you re-sign Finley this winter, the trade doesn't look so bad.

Hmmmm. I never thought about that. Finley is a free agent after this year. Assuming Garagiola doesnt go cheap and doesnt offer him a contract, maybe it isnt so bad anymore. Its still a bad trade however.

Adding to my humiliation is the fact that they lost again tonight. Plus, im expecting the Cardinals to do what they do every year(lose), so it might just be a long ass fall and winter. I need to be held.

From what I have heard the D'backs have almost every intention of resigning Fin. If they do resign him the trade almost looks genius.

Dude your a Cards fan too. Should we keep a suscide watch up?

Maybe, but im not that desperate. Yet. There aint no tall buildings or bridges in Phoenix. Yes, I am a Cards fan. But, ill wait and see if the Suns start out good. If they dont, tell me where the Brooklyn Bridge is.

Hey dude, look at my new title. Loser in a loser city. Im sure to get a lot of crap over that.

Hill, the catcher that was acquired, is almost major league ready. He is highly thought of both defensively and offensively.

This Hill guy you speak of is almost major league ready? Good because we need him. And fast. A September callup would work best.

Oh great. Randy now says management never approached him on the deal with the dodgers. Here comes a feud.

A great quote by him on MLB.com sums up the D-Backs season in less than 20 words: "I feel like im on a boat with no oars and the perfect storm is about to hit."

We all feel that way Randy. We all feel that way. Except the storm has already hit.

The management for this team seems to be going down hill fast. How do they not tell Johnson? I'm going to see if I can find some stats on this Hill dude. If he is that good then I say bring him up now. What could it hurt?

Theyre bringing him up today.

why should the management approach Johnson first?? They are a last place team.. with no hope of anything happening this season. It would be totally different if they were a contender.

As for the trade, you can't really expect to get much for Finley considering his age and his contract status. Any team that is trading for him is only renting him for a few months, so I would be ecstatic to get good prospects for a rent a player.

Because, he holds all the cards with a no trade clause in his contract. Yeah, I know theyre a last place team, but the least they could do is talk to him and persuade him to waive his no trade. This is a funny thing I just found out. One of the prospects is named Reggie Abercrombie. heh heh heh.

Hill has a .339 OBP with 13 hr, and 54 RBI.. to go along with 69 Ks
not too bad, but not thinking that quite makes him major league ready, but then again, not sure that the DBacks have anything to lose.

Not sure if he came over in the same trade, but Bill Murphy was pitching for the Carolina Mudcats (AA team for the Marlins) and has a 6-4 record with a 4.08 ERA, pitching 103 innings with 113 Ks and 59 BB.

oh.. i thought you were saying that Johnson should have been consulted about the trade which was made before it was.

I've been looking for a place where I could find others who agree with me. Is it just me, or is the front end's obsession with "youngsters", furthered by Pedrique, really freaking annoying. Al wanting to stick to Edgar Gonzalez is would be like someone wanting to stay with the Titanic cause "she'll pull through." I really do hope that Garigiola is given the axe (of the battle variety would be best) so then maybe Garigiola Sr. will get the hell off the air. Man that old guy really needs to shut about about the "good ole days" "getting these kids off tobacco" and so forth.

Did I mention how happy I am that I found somewhere where others share my frustrations?
