Rays announce 2002 broadcast schedule
129 games will be televised by FoxSportsNet, WMOR and WTSP this season

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. --- A total of 129 Tampa Bay Devil Rays games will be televised in 2002 the club announced today.
Sixty-four games will be carried on cable via Fox Sports Net Florida and 65 will be televised over-the-air by WMOR-TV 32, which will air 54 games and WTSP-TV 10, which will televise 11 Sunday afternoon games.
The total regular season package calls for 60 away games and 69 home games. The Rays' 2002 TV schedule includes all 19 of their games against the World Champion New York Yankees, 15 against the Boston Red Sox, and 12 first-time interleague games against the San Francisco Giants, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.
Fox Sports Net Florida will also carry two spring training games: a special St. Patrick's Day contest on March 17 vs. the Minnesota Twins and March 20 vs. the Boston Red Sox. Fox Sports Net Florida's coverage of the 2002 Devil Rays season begins with a one-hour special from the Florida Power Devil Rays FanFest 2002 at Tropicana Field on Sunday, February 17 at 9 a.m.
WMOR-TV's coverage begins with the season opener vs. the Detroit Tigers at Tropicana Field on Tuesday, April 2. Including WMOR and WTSP, the Rays over the air television network currently reaches over 3.2 million homes throughout the State of Florida. The remainder of the Rays' network includes Comcast Cablevision (Panama City); WGFL TV 53 and WJXE TV 14 (Gainesville); W69AX (Perry); WRDQ TV 27 (Orlando) and WEVU TV (Naples, Ft. Myers).
Returning to the broadcast booth for 129 games on Devil Rays television will be the popular team of play-by-play announcer Dewayne Staats and color analyst Joe Magrane. It will be their fifth season together. Todd Kalas will host the Rays pre-game show for all away games shown on FOX Sports Net Florida. Dick Crippen will host the pre-game show for home games shown on WMOR-TV.
Fox Sports Net Florida's Devil Rays Magazine will return for another season of weekly news and information for fans. The show, hosted by Dave Wirth, will air Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. and run for 26 weeks.
