View Full Version : Sturtze and Torre mid-game rant

First off, Tanyon Sturtze sucks.

Secondly, Torre's use of the bullpen is absolutely MADDENING . There's no way, NO WAY IN HELL that Paul Quantrill should come into a game where we have a 6-run lead. I don't care if the bases are loaded. Put in Proctor or Padilla. Heck, Joe trusted Proctor enough to put him in a one-run game the other day, why doesn't he trust him enough to NOT give up a grand slam? Torre is KILLING the bullpen

9-5 Yanks in the bottom of the seventh

BJ Ryan is sick

If Quantrill or Gordon comes out for the 8th we'll see how dumb Torre really is.

Sometimes Q can pitch pretty good, sometimes he just really sucks... It is pretty difficult decision for Torre to make. I'd go with Proctor if I were him, and then start Gordon in 8th and Riveria in 9th to finish off the game.

I don't even care if Q gave up a grand slam. He should never ever be in a game where we lead by 6 runs unless it's an elimination game or something. But August 1st, with a 9 game lead in the division, against the Baltimore Orioles? There's no reason Quantrill should even warm up. This game had Sturtze, Padilla, and Proctor written all over it. Q, Gordon and Mo should never have to pitch in a game where we lead by more than three runs.

It's these types of stupid appearances that further bloat Quantrill's IP. One day Q's gonna show up to the ballpark and his right arm will be missing :(

Ninth inning. If Gordon is in I may break this little laptop.

Do you think Loazia will solve the weary bullpen? :notme:

The bullpen are very exhausted and they need rest before Sept and Oct. :(

Your laptop is safe for now :D Its Proctor in the ninth inning

Exactly. Quantrill, Gordon, and Rivera are exhausted. They've been horribly overworked, and with a 9 game lead we have a huge cushion to rest them.

And that huge cushion makes appearances like Quantrill's today absolutely pointless.

I don't think Loaiza will solve the bullpen problem because he'll be in the starting rotation. But if he proves worthy of the postseason roster, he will probably replace Sturtze as the long man, so that's a plus. The guy who could really help the bullpen is Steve Karsay, if he decides to not have another setback ;).

Thank god it's Proctor not Gordon

I was hoping that Loazia can be very consistent and pitch for at least 8 to 9 innings if possible to give bullpen some more rest.

Oh I see what you mean. I HOPE Loaiza can go deep into games, something Contreras NEVER did. But I worry Joe will pull him in the 6th or 7th anyway, since he seems to be doing that a lot this year :(

I'm surprised the announcers haven't jumped all over the Ken Huckaby thing.

Yay, Yankees win

Does A-Rod always lift Jeter after a win?
