View Full Version : We Lose To A Mediocre Pitcher

Today was a dark day, as was yesterday and the losses before that. This one was especially dark, considering that this was the first game without Steve Finley in 4 and a half years. And we played like a bad team too. We lost to Aaron Cook. Case closed. Rox fans may disagree with this, but I think Aaron Cook is a mediocre pitcher. He throws a complete game against us inside Coors Field. COORS FIELD!!! Plus, you wanna know how many runs we gave our pitchers this weekend? 6. 6 runs all weekend inside Coors Field. Im almost laughing, this is so pathetic. Our pitchers allow 22 runs, we get 4. Im speechless. We need to start over, lower our payroll, and build a team the right way. The right way is getting prospects, not rushing them up, and NOT TRADING THEM. Also no big budget players until we start winning. And maybe not even then. You hear that Joe? No trading promising prospects(like Cust and Closser and Cresse) ever again. Maybe to save your job, you could do this right and not screw up this time. It will take long losing years, but eventually we will rise up and win again. I guaran-damn-tee it. Im out.

Aaron Cook is a very young pitcher that is getting his thing going.

102 pitchs in Coors field is far from a mediocre performace. Aaron Cook has won 4 of his last 5 and his last game was vs the hottest team in the NL with that being the Dodgers. He pitched 8 inning and gave up 2 runs and you guessed it in Coors field.

So that would tell me that he is learning something and getting better with each start so far this year. So are the Dodgers a bad team also because Cook did that to them?

I have heard and read all about the hype around Aaron but always thought of him as one of the many .500 pitchers in the league now. I like him from the little bit I have seen him pitch. I wont be impressed till he puts together 2 good years.

Shad believe me you could have put Negal with a broken ankle out there and he could have beat the Backs.

But I come back to what I said before. He pitched 8 innings vs the Dodgers and they got 2 runs on him at Coors He may be a .500 pitcher but right now he isnt. He is above .500 and these past few games he has been pitching very well.

He is the same kind of pitcher as Lowe is and he watched him real close when Lowe pitched at Coors and did a hell of a job. Cook said that he learned something that game and now he has been a damm solid pitcher.

He may be a .500 pitcher but right now he isnt.

Aaron Cook has actually pitched quite well in his last 5 or 6 starts. His BB/K ratio is not at all good, but he's only 25. If he somehow learns to turn those BB's into ground outs, you could have an ace on your hands.

I hope so TC but we kind of thought that about Jennings also. ;)

But Aaron something has seemed to just clicked with him like you said the past 6 games he has been outstanding. And the past two starts at Coors was freaking great by him. And you are so right with turning those BB's into ground balls with that sinking fastball he has he is a double play pitcher big time. With a very good defense behind him this year he is gaining a ton of confidence.

Uh quick question....way off topic, but am I the only one who gets a gold line under words like MONEY, Diamon-ring, or work?
