Who should hit 5th?

I have given this some thought. Remy last night had a blurb that said Damon has the most 2 strike hits in the AL. Why not bat him 3rd, and Ortiz 5th?

This Roberts guy is a good leadoff guy with speed, and Youks could hit 2nd.

Its kinda hard to say, cuz everyone is kinda hitting good. I would leave Drug runner in the #2 spot. Damon would be a graet 3rd, cuz hes hitting very well right now and can drive in runs. Damon leads the league in 2 out hits, btw. And Ortiz can pretect Manny, hitting 5th. Thats my take. ;)

you dont mess with ortiz batting 3rd. he's had such a good year, starting to mess with it might ruin it. I think youk could hit 5...he takes a lot of pitches, is very patient at the plate, so will not strike out often, or swing at bad pitches. i know hes only a rookie, but...

I think damon and roberst are interchangeable...however, roberts is better suited for centerfield, and left field, and tito isnt gonna mess with manny playing left field. so probably damon will stay in center, and roberts will give him a breather once in a while. maybe get him a little used to playing right field (roberts that is)

If I was the manager, I would bat the speedy guys(Damon and Roberts) first and second to set up the big guns like Man-Ram and Ortiz. Mueller should bat third to give him more RBI chances. If he did bat third, he would probably drive in 90-100 runs. Manny should clean up, Ortiz bats fifth. Mentkeivicz and Mccarty and Millar should split time in the sixth spot. Youkilis should bat seventh, Varitek eighth, and Cabrera 9th.

ideally, yes, i would agree. but the way we've been going all year it might really disturb the players if we switch ortiz around, and move everyone around. you know they are creatures of habit. next year that should be about right.

but you know what? depending on who hits in front of the other, manny or ortiz are gonna keep each other from having major uber large years. the person hitting in front is gonna get the most rbis. like right now, ortiz has more than manny only cuz he got there first.

Yeah, like this team doesnt have enough problems to deal with(e.i. getting to the playoffs, beating the skanks, etc.) Add Man-Ram and Ortiz to the mix(and you know how hot tempered both guys can get) and there are some serious problems in Sox land.

i was listening to WEEI yesterday, and the guy said that the higher you bat varitek, the more hyper he gets. like he's excited to be batting high in the order. he does not take the pressure well. i think he needs to bad low in the order in order for him to get on bae, and hit as well as we know he can.

and yeah, jose is a good 3rd hitter. in fact, he could hit anywhere from 3-5 and be good, so.

I agree Babs, Tek has been awful, itherwise, he'd be the #5 guy. Ortiz has been great hitting 3rd, but with Bellhorn out, he'll have less RBI chances which is why I think he should hit 5th, where he was a monster last year. :notme:

what do you mean with bellhorn out he'll have less...it seems like whoever hits 2nd channels bellhorn's walking spirit. mueller walked 2 times last night. i think hell have more, because mueller doesnt strike out as often, and will put the ball in play, thus getting more hits.

and ortiz and manny don't care. and they are such good friends that they wont mind who's hitting in front of who.

i just dont wanna mess with the remaining karma this team has by doing a total overhaul of the lineup.

i dont like that...cabrera is not a good enough hitter, at least this year, to be hitting in the top of the order. maybe when he was hitting .300 last year

so now we've got roberts, cabrera and damon 1-3. thats a pretty damn fast top of the lineup dont you think?
