Gary Sheffield
The New York Times is reporting that Gary Sheffield has often thought about retiring at the end of the season because of his sore shoulder. In addition to bursitis, he also has a damaged acromioclavicular joint. When the joint is disrupted, it results in a separated shoulder. Sheffield added that his decision would be made easier if the Yankees won a World Series this season.

Gary Sheffield has not had an "often thought" in his head ever. :hmm: But I hope he's serious and really does get the hell outta' the game.

I thought he'd retired the last two years in the playoffs.

If the Yankees win World Series, I wouldn't be surprised if he announce retirement afterwards.

Gary Sheffield
Gary Sheffield has now been diagnosed with a torn or badly strained muscle in his ailing left shoulder, on top of the bursitis that has been troubling him all season, according to the New York Daily News. He said he plans to play through the pain the remainder of the season but may get a cortisone shot after he speaks with his doctor.

Gary Sheffield plans to skip getting cortisone shots in his ailing shoulder, in part because the pain has diminished recently, according to the New York Daily News. He was also told that the shots could mask pain enough that he might be less cautious with the injury and make it worse.
