Game Thread (summary)

Mike Mussina and Cliff Lee struggled the first couple of innings, however they both settled down giving up 3 runs... after that it was shutout until Bob Howry had a bad inning giving up a RBI single to Ruben Sierra to give the Yanks a 4-3 lead... But with 2 out and no one on, Gordon gives an uncharacteristic double and single to give up a run and tie the game...

Then comes the ninth... Jeter got hit on the elbow and left the game... and Gary Sheffield comes in and REVENGE he says... :D hits a 2-run home run... then mo shut 'em out like usual....

I got home just in time to see Flash blow the lead :(

When Jeter got plunked, my first thought was, "YAY! Sheff gets to bat now!" It didn't even occur to me that Jete may be seriously injured. I hope the x-rays are negative. We can't lose Jete now... :(

That said, Sheff is so freakin unbelievable. It's gotten to the point where his heroics are PREDICTABLE. I almost knew he was gonna hit a homerun, he just DOES stuff like that :D.

Nonetheless, that would have been a horrible, horrible game had we lost. Without Sheff, we'd be on a 8-game losing streak.
