Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox will be without Magglio Ordonez for the rest of the season because of a chronic left knee injury.
Ordonez, who has been sidelined since July 22 with a bone marrow condition, played in just 52 games this season. That mark the fewest numbers of games he has played in since a late-season callup back in 1997.
According to the club, Ordonez was not expected to be back this season. White Sox manager Kenny Williams reconfirmed that on Tuesday.
Ordonez batted .292 with nine homers and 37 RBI to end his 2004 campaign.
