Wood versus Oswalt. Will there be any carryover from last weekend? I sure hope not.

:gt:

I'm not sure why Barrett's still pissed. What, does he think he's the only batter to ever get hit after a teammate socked one? :notme: It's baseball, tell him to go home and play Candy Land with his mommy if he can't take it. Makes me wonder if there was something going on between Oswalt and Barrett before last Sunday.

On another subject, I was just watching the 7th-inning stretch on WGN, and there are some major league ta-ta's in Wrigley today :naughty:

there are ALWAYS tata's in the stands. hopefully a lot more of them tomorrow. :D

and barrett i think is pissed because everyone (on both sides) knows that it was a purpose pitch, but oswalt said it wasnt. Barrett is one of the nicest guys out there. he doesnt lie, so when someone lies to him, he gets mightily irritated. i think if oswalt had just said hey, i hit him on purpose, then everything would be cool.

it may sound odd, but Barrett believes strongly in everyone being a good guy.

And what does Mercker say about the pitch to Oswalt today? And who was right there squatting behind the plate knowing that pitch was coming at Oswalt today?

Ray, honestly, are you going to tell me that Mercker didn't throw at Oswalt on purpose today? The doo-doo brains on WGN were saying, "Oh, he wasn't trying to hit him, that was a breaking ball." :hmm:

Why wasn't Mercker given the old heave-ho? Roy was thrown out w/o a warning. This was clearly in retaliation to that, anyone who believes cow-chip carey is an idiot. Where is the fairness?

"The truth of the matter is Wood has hit something like 11 Astros and Roy has only hit three (Cubs)," Garner said after the game. "I don't know what elementary school teaches you that kind of math but it sure doesn't add up in my viewpoint.

"We're not trying to say that we need to equate what Wood is doing. But I would say that if you're going to talk about squaring up or settling scores that they better take a look at those numbers before they start talking."

if that was a breaking ball, my name is cindy.

willie, if it was ME umpiring instead of dickass bucknor i woulda tossed kent.

kerry wood's hitting a batter, no biggie as that was another one of his stupid breaking pitches that he routinely has no control over. (what do you think drives us crazy about woody!?!?)

barrett will sit on the corner n stuff, but mercker is known to sometimes take matters into his own hands. in fact its been whispered sometimes who actually has control: the pitchers or barrett. that has actually been well documented around these parts and is the subject of the butt of some jokes that barrett doesnt have the gumption to stick up to his staff.

if it WAS a breaking ball, it wouldnt have been an issue, but chip shit was wrong in that it was an effin 2 seamer that kent usually has good control over (unlike kerry).

I'm just saying that everyone on all sides of the field think that barrett is one of the best guys in the game and that when he thinks something is the case, thats the way it is.

and just so you think that kent was doing anything to injure, why would he risk something when he is a main cog of our relief corps?

I'm not saying he didnt hit him on purpose. i wouldnt believe him if he said that. but at the same time, its not like he drilled him with a 95 mph fastball in the back. he hit him with what an 88 mph fastball in the fat part of the leg?

I just wish they would say hey, shit happens and have moved on. But willie and TC (sorry i forget your name TC, I'm stoooooopid in that regard. lol) the least you can say is that it wasnt going to affect anyone. hell, even oswalt expected it. the look on his face was like "thats it?? thats all you got, you pansy?"

not defendint kent mercker, just trying to explain. as for defending barrett, i think both sides of the fence (except oswalt) has defended any of barrett's actions.

silver lining of yesterday's game. san fran and san diego both lost.
