Since this is the first real weekend of college ball, I was wondering what games, if any, you guys will be attending. Labor Day Weekend is one of my favorite holidays of the year because it signifies the opening of college football season.

I'll be sweating it out Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest-Clemson game. With the afternoon heat and humidity we've had this week, I'm sure with a big crowd that it will be brutal by kick-off time. But I'll probably too worried about this game to really notice. Clemson hasn't been able to stop their mis-direction ground game for the last two years. I'm concerned about if they can do it this year, but at least they've had several weeks to prepare this time. But they kicked our ass 45-17 last year and I'm worried that it could happen again.

Well Yellow I wont be watching to many games if any at all. :(

Not this week anyway. I am getting down to one of the Pokes games this year but I dont know which one yet. I might go for a late in the year game just because it is very cold and windy so people dont go to those games and those are the games I love!!!

I will be just catching updates on the radio but I will be in Nebraska that day so I will be hearing the Huskers game....

I should attend two games this year:

Sep 18th - Clemson @ Texas A&M
Oct 23rd - Colorado @ Texas A&M

Will also be watching my Aggies travel to Utah this Thursday night. Not sure what else I'll get to see this weekend.

I wouldn't bet on A&M beating anyone by 30-40 points or more this year.

If it wasn't for the fact my nephew (a Clemson grad) and I planned to see the Aggies-Tigers game a while back, and the fact I have good friends coming in from Colorado (old Aggie roommate from Dorm 12 who lives in Parker, CO, now), I probably wouldn't be going to a single Coach Fran game this year. I'm not really happy with the way things are being run at the school overall these days and hate giving them a dime out of my pocket.

I don't know if A&M will beat anybody by 30 points or not, but they've got a lot of folks in these parts, including yours truly, worried about that game on the 18th. A lot of the local writers seem to think Clemson will be an underdog in that game. They probably base that on Clemson not be as good and the Aggies being better than people think. And I know Kyle Field is a very tough place to play. I remember the only other time we played out there and Bubba Bean ran all over Clemson.

And there's a very good chance that the Tigers will have a loss by then. Their best defensive player, All-ACC linebacker Leroy Hill, twisted an ankle at practice Monday and is listed as 50-50 for Wake Forest. Tommy Bowden said yesterday that Hill was the player he could least afford to lose if they plan to contain Wake's ground game which his piled up nearly 800 yards on Clemson the last two years.

But I'll be looking in on the Aggies Thursday night to try and get a better idea of what we'll be up against on the 18th.

Well Wyoming isnt a good team at all. But I am so happy the way they are going. It is a team that is going to be good in about two to three years. I will be going for Wyoming over A&M ;)

I was at that game in '74, YD. Bean was such a streaky performer. I really can't remember anything specific about his performance that day, but I would probably give a lot of credit that year and for a few seasons to come after that to our defense. The 1975 A&M defense was one of the best defensive units I've ever seen on the college level.

I don't remember any specifics about that game either, Pop, other than the fact that was the first time I'd ever heard of Bubba Bean. It seemed I heard his name all afternoon on the radio and the announcers gave the impression that we just couldn't stop the guy. I looked in my media guide and saw the score was 24-0 so I'm thinking he must of had a huge game to go along with that outstanding defense. That was our opening game that year and as it turned out, Clemson had a pretty good team that wound up going 7-4 and should have gone to a bowl. The year before that A&M won 30-15 in Clemson. I believe that's the only two times the schools have met.

I watched some of the Utah game the other night and didn't see a whole lot that should concern me but I'm still worried about the A&M game. Especially after watching Clemson struggle at home yesterday against Wake Forest. They blew a 19-3 lead and had to rally, and, get the benefit of a questionable call to win in double OT. I'm happy for the win but I think we saw that Clemson, at least yet, is not as good as everybody thought they would be, which is what I suspected all along. Overrated would be the proper term.

So I think our game on the 18th will be very interesting. But there are still a lot of these hard heads aound here who already have that game penciled in as an easy win. I guess that shows if you grow old there's no telling what you'll live to see. Because I certainly never thought I'd live to see the day that Clemson fans would be more worried about a home game against Wake Forest that a road game at Texas A&M.

it was a fun weekend watching football yesterday! i felt bad for Oregon State. They shoulda won that game, but oh well.

i watched some of michigan's game and Some of Wisconsin's game. both were alright but nothing special. Michigan didnt impress overly much except on defense. their offense looked pedestrian IMO.

but all in all, good day of football.

I felt especially bad for that poor place kicker, Alex Serna. I don't know how good their second string kicker is, but I don't think I would have gone with that same guy after he'd already missed two. If I'd had any other options I would have never sent that kid out there with a chance to miss a third. If I didn't have any more confidence another kicker, I'd have gone for two and tried to win it right there. You knew the guy had to be gripping bad by then.

It's was a shame though to see those OSU guys play their hearts out like that in a tough enviroment like Baton Rouge on a Saturday night then lose because of missed extra points.

How about 31 Pop. Wyoming is a very young team with a second year head coach that has to rebuild this team from nothing to what he wants it to be. Wyoming got trashed by A&M..... :(
