Let's have a real live election of our own here. And we'll allow voters under the age of 18!

I would vote against Bush, but not for Kerry... Out of both choices Kerry is the least stupid, but not neccessarily a smart one. America needs a representitive of the masses, not someone who makes ten times their sallary and tells them what they want. Meh, I'l never be happy with whoever is running.

...Bush seriously I don't see how he got elected in the first place.

Well you see, West, this is how it works. American citizens, either native born or naturalized, who are 18 years old and older on election day go cast their ballots. They can't have a lot of felony arrests on their record, and they must be sure to register about a month before the big election. I believe this past Monday, Oct 4th, was the last day to sign up for this one.

Then on the appointed day, the American voter goes to his or her polling place and votes. It will be on Tuesday, November 2nd this year. In the end, they don't just add up the grand total of votes each candidate gets. Our founding fathers setup what is called an electoral college, and the votes are divided by state and alloted according to population. There are 538 electoral votes, and Texas gets 34 this year while Alaska gets the minimum of three (3). As population shifts in the country, the electoral votes are redistributed. California, with 55 electoral votes, is the most populated state in the union and gets the most tallies in the college.

So when President Bush wins Texas this November as he should easily, he will get 34 atta' boys in the big game. And when Senator Kerry takes New York he will get 31 ticks on the big board. First one to 270 wins.

And that's how President Bush was elected four years ago. :smokin:

10-09-2004, 02:39 PM
Actually, Willie, that's not really true. Can we say Florida, boys and girls?

No one should vote for Nader or Perrot or any other "other"......that just takes votes away from candidates that are legitimate contenders.

I hope everyone who can vote will vote. It's more important now than it's been in quite some time.

Yes we can and we can also say that the New York Times and many many other news papers and TV stations went down there and did there own count and they all came up with the same numbers that the state of florida came up with also. So the recount was right and Bush did win Florida. As always I have the backup to the papers recounts.

Yea every count siad Bush won. The average was 500 votes.

look guys...this was 4 years ago...forget it, there isn't anything we can do about it...he won, under suspicious circumstances, but he still won. It won't happen again this year, you can be assured of that.

The sad part is the Bush folks are contributing heavily to Nader for obvious reasons. People who vote Nader would undoubtedly vote Kerry otherwise.

Well, you can thank Al Gore for that.

Had Gore been able to carry his own state of Tennessee in the first place, the outcome of the vote count in Florida would’ve been rendered irrelevant.

My vote, by the way, goes to President Bush.

the thing about carrying your own state is that it's overrated...what if I were running from President as a liberal, and I came from Texas...would I carry my own state? Hell No!

In the 1984 elections, Ronald Reagan, of all people, carried every state but Mondale's Minnesota and the District of Columbia (525 electoral votes to 13).

Yeah, nothing about 1984 could be surprising. Mondale was a joke.

Wow, this is looking pretty tilted in Kerry's favour. Is it safe to assume then, that either Bush supporters pretty much shun baseball forums, or that Kerry will be President come November?:D

honestly, i dont think it is either one.

Plus, dont forget to take into account that you must be over 18 and a US citizen to vote. ;) See what the vote looks like here after you take away the under 18 and canadian vote...;)

I prefer a president who sticks to his decisions, even if its not a popular one. I cant respect a president who caves to pressures of his own "job"

Could you imagine a country run by Hilary? :banghead

Doesn't Canada have like a 4 legit party system. Most people in America hate the 2 party system we got, but won't even consider any of the others.
