ashby is feeling no ill effects from Thursdays workout. Manager Jim Tracy is pushing back Ashby's first live batting practice session to Sunday only, "because I want to err on the side of caution."

Feb 25, 2002 News: Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Andy Ashby threw batting practice for the first time this spring yesterday and continues to look strong in his recovery from elbow surgery. He included fastballs, curves, and sinkers in the 40-pitch session. Ashby underwent surgery June 15 to repair the torn flexor muscle in his right elbow. He will likely throw b.p. again later this week and wants to start testing his split-finger fastball, but has yet to receive permission to do so.
