Happy Friday everyone, glad you're not going to have to think anymore this week Magic :D

Nothing but baseball for this weekend. Hopefully I will be as happy on Monday as Cynthia is right now.

PS --- The original "thanksgiving" back before this place was called America was also held in late September, early October.

I actively hate my job. Yesterday, I actively hated my students--they were beyond terrible, so terrible, I seriously thought about quitting. I would have if it was not for my friend Kate. I cried in front of them, told them I had enough and I was leaving. They cried, I cried, I had to bring them to dismissal, crying their little eyes out and explain to numerous parents why they were crying. Today was better, but five of them still think they can do whatever the f they want. They're are rude, snotty and talk back to me. I've called parents, taken away gym, recess, they haven't played fun games. Half of them refuse to stay in their seats. In the meanwhile, my other kids (really the so-so ones) are acting out, because they know that is the way I get my damn attention.

However, next week I am going to focus more on the positive, follow through on my consequences, using the people my "I won't listen to you teacher" children are afraid of and get them in my room, hell or highwater and offer rewards they can't refuse (going to the corner pizzeria and having lunch with me), re-establish routines and order and be more dramatic, because frankly I can make garbage exciting if I say it the right way and get my resume out there. I'm going to sing more and laugh things off. Today when I felt like I was going to lose control, I actually skipped around the classroom thinking dark thoughts about some of them. But, man did they stop and watch me.

I am not going to let a bunch of five year and six year olds make me miserable.

And I'm getting my resume out there, just in case things don't improve.

Oh, I'm determined to make it better, there will be no anarchy in my classroom.

I'm more clever thne those six year olds! I can beat them at their own game. Today, for example one of my little "darlings" thought it would be okay to hide in the corner and refuse to do work. Yesterday it happened and I tried to talk to her calmly and she wanted no part of that, so today I dropped a bucket of crayons right in front of her and I was all dramatic "Oh my goodness, Jocelyn, look at how silly I am. I can't pick all these crayons up all by myself, can you help me? AT first she just stared at me, then she smiled, helped me then I asked her if she knew where the bucket of crayons went, she did that and then I asked her if she knew where she sat and was just dramatic about what a great job she did and how smart she was. It worked for about five minutes, but it is a start. :)

Thanks, Ray, Eric. Wow, I was really keeping that bottled up. With me, you always get an answer... :)

Kat, I know exactly what you're going through! BELIEVE ME! Similar fields, I know what you're going through. I'm always here if you need to talk

I think I'll take you up on that offer.
It might be good to talk to someone that doesn't really know me, my flaws etc,so they can be objective, but at the same time, someone who understands about the field. :)

Thanks, Jen!

Yikes. Last year, my Latin class was a teacher's nightmare, but it definitely had a lot to do with the teacher. Maybe I'll tell tomorrow.

Wow, Kat, very sorry to hear of your troubles! :( But do remember that at times like these, it's your friends who will always be there to lend an ear or shoulder, as the case may be. :)

And, if you need a quick pick-me-up, just stick some needles into your Jeter voodoo doll (if you don't have one yet, knit one! :D  )
