VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Kevin Brown climbed back on the mound and threw Thursday without pain, a welcome spring sight for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Brown included at least a couple of sliders in his 40-pitch routine as he worked off a mound for the first time since undergoing surgery on his right elbow Sept. 27.
"It felt like I was back home," Brown said.
Brown, who turns 37 next month, said he didn't feel particularly nervous and remained confident he would start the season at full strength. He made just 19 starts last season, going 10-4 with a 2.65 ERA.
"If this was a surgery where 50 percent of the guys came back and really struggled, I'd be a little more anxious," he said. "With the track record as good as it is, why shouldn't you expect good results?"
