We have a nice community here. Our REGULAR Sox and Yankee fans have fun all year. We welcome new people, but we DO NOT F*CKING tolerate any crap. No insults, no flaming.
Have fun, be polite, or go back to the hole you crawled out of in time for post-season.
If you are well-meaning, :wavey2: WELCOME! Bar is 3 threads down. Help yourself. :)

I wore Sox gear all weekend, and I live in Manhattan. I got dirty looks from some NYY fans, and knowing grins from other people wearing Sox gear.
I am, as people here know, primarily a Mets fan, but I have ALWAYS loved the Red Sox. Perhaps it's because I have always figured that anyone who hated the Skanks as much as I did had to be OK. Who knows. But I am not a fair-weather Sox fan. The ONLY time I won't root for them is against the Mets. And people here can handle that.
Anyway, I've met a bunch of Bostonians who still cannot tolerate the Mets. I really do understand their bitterness towards the team, but they shouldn't take it out on the fans. I have to wonder if they realize how many Mets fans have the Sox as their favorite AL team. For example, whenever good things for the Red Sox are posted on the scoreboard at Shea (especially in conjunction with bad things for the Skanks), Mets fans cheer like crazy. Mets fans and Red Sox fans have an awful lot in common, and I think it's why we tend to get along so well.
PS -- I have Red Sox wallpaper on my computer at work, as well as a LET'S GO RED SOX screensaver. :D

I know...I started a Let's Go Red Soxs chant at Shea for the last Saturday game...Some soxs fans just hate NY...you know what..i can understand that...NY is huge...its normal for people to hate "the big city"...everybody in England hates Londoners...thats just the way it is...so ...LET'S GO SOXS

Yep. Saturday plan holder, and a 6-,7-, 8-pack too.
I had 2 tickets for the Saturday plan for a while, but it got too expensive...especially since I've been unemployed twice since 1/1/00.
I live and work in Manhattan, and the Cyclones are too hard to get to on a regular basis. I'm sticking with my Mets plans -- at this point, it's an investment in the future. ;)

I just love how most Mets fans have a second favorite team and it always seems to be the Sox. I will live and die with the Yanks and never root for any other team. If the Yanks don't make the playoffs my season is over, but then again it has been so long since the Mets made the playoffs, nah i could never root for anther team.

Who did you root for from 1982 through 1994? Or what about from 1965 until 1976? Did you make fun of the other teams and their fans then? I'm sure the As of the early 70s were a laugh riot for you. :hmm:
Where were "mystique" and "aura" when Horace Clarke, Mike Kekich, Fritz Peterson, Steve Balboni, Kevin Maas, Hensley Meulens, Ken Phelps, Steve Sax, Mike Pagliarulo and Stump Merrill wore Yankee uniforms? How many Yankee fans even know who these guys are? How many Yankee fans can tell me who Brien Taylor was?
Oh, and while we're at it, you might not want to continue being snarky about the Wild Card. Your guys were the Wild Card in 1995 and 1997 and they didn't make it out of the first round either time. Yet a Wild Card team beat your team's sorry asses in both 2002 and 2003, and a Wild Card team came thisclose to beating you last year. Quite often, a Wild Card team will have the 2nd best record in their league. This year is a case in point. The Sox have a better record than either of the other 2 division winners and have been picked by some analysts to win it all. In 1993, the Giants won more than 100 games, yet they didn't make the playoffs because the Braves won a single game more. Think about 2000 -- the Yankees had the worst record of any of the 8 teams in the playoffs. And they won it all. Any team can win, as we saw in 1997, 2002 and 2003. Just because someone is a Yankee fan shouldn't mean they can't respect the other teams. And it's because they don't that most right-thinking people hate Yankee fans about as much as they hate the Yankees.

Uh, NOT! :nope: I'm a Mets fan and have been one for over 20yrs. I'm also a diehard Padres fan. So how do you explain me?
I just happen to live in Red Sox territory (well not for much longer anyway) and I could care less if they win, well, no I care if they beat the NY AL team. Other than that, don't care. I'm National League all the way!
But this ALCS, it's GO RED SOX!

Well, isn't that special? You're obviously morally superior to the rest of us because you root for a team with 26 world championships. Can you please tell me how that works? You have nothing to do with those championships, so how does the fact that you root for that team make you better than those of us among the great unwashed?
I am a baseball fan FIRST, a Mets fan second. I will watch baseball, regardless of who is playing, because of my passionate love for the GAME. In the winter, I have been known to watch the Caribbean League games, even though I don't understand Spanish (which reminds me, how come English-language TV has to have SAP so that Spanish-speaking people can watch it, but Spanish-language TV doesn't have to have SAP so that English-speaking people can watch it???), because I love the GAME ITSELF.
I follow the Jets, the Packers and the Islanders, but don't pay much attention to those sports if my teams aren't involved. I don't love those sports enough. But baseball is one of my passions. That's why I watched all 4 Division Series, and I will watch both League Championship Series.

;) My name is Jim and I'm new here on the board. I've posted for years on the MLB Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres boards.
I'm currently living in San Diego, but I'm orginally from Newport, Rhode Island.
I also post on an Entertainment board that is used internationally. I have alot of friends now in England, mostly in the London area. They're big Soccer fans, but I'm trying to convert them to the Church of Red Sox Nation!!
My friend Yagsy introduced me to the board just tonight and it looks pretty cool.
How are you doing tonight and where are you from?
