Oct. 14 If Curt Schilling (P) Bos tries to test his ailing right ankle today with a bullpen session, he will have the joint numbed again, according to the Boston Globe. "If he fails the next bullpen session, it's unlikely he'll go [Sunday]," medical director William Morgan said, "because he has to be able to pitch effectively." Schilling has a dislocated tendon behind his ankle.
Oct. 14 Pedro Martinez (P) Bos has volunteered to work on three days' rest if Curt Schilling is unable to return from a serious ankle injury, according to the Boston Globe. "They know that, without knowing what's going to happen with Schill, they are probably going to have to use me on short time and I'm willing to do that," said Martinez. Manager Terry Francona said he has yet to determine a contingency plan if Schilling can't go, but Derek Lowe could get the nod.
