SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- First baseman J.T. Snow gave the Giants their first scare of the spring Friday when he sprained his left ankle during a fielding drill.
Trainer Stan Conte called the injury a "very mild" ankle sprain.
"He was treated, iced and sent home, and he was walking pretty normally," Conte said. "We'll know a lot more [Saturday] if we'll have to modify his activities, but it really doesn't look that bad."
Conte said he anticipates X-rays to come back negative, but they were to be looked at by a team physician Friday night. Snow has had injuries to both ankles in his career, so both are a little loose.
Snow is coming off a season in which he hit .246 with eight homers and 34 RBIs, his worst statistical year since 1994 with the Angels. He endured his first three trips to the disabled list in the Majors, first with bruised ribs, then with a groin strain and then with gastroenteritis.
