Lo Duca shooting for the stars
Lo Duca will likely start the vast majority of games at catcher this season. While Paul Lo Duca's batting statistics last season -- .320 average, 25 home runs, 90 RBIs in 125 games -- rivaled the best on the team and the best among National League catchers, what he really cares about is his defense. "I've always prided myself on catching," said Lo Duca. "Catching has always been first, hitting second. Whatever I can do with the bat is a bonus." Hitting coach Jack Clark, who believes Lo Duca's numbers could increase this season, would like to see the catcher take on more of a leadership role on the team. "He has the potential to be great," said Clark. "No one has a better attitude or outlook on the game or desire to be the best."
