At Happy Valley this afternoon,the Iowa Hawkeyes kept Penn State out of the end zone,while Kyle Schlicher's 2 first half field goals was enough as the 25th rank Hawkeys beat Penn State by an unusual 6-4 baseball score.
Penn State's only scores came on safeties in the 1st and 4th quarters.The second safety in the 4th quarter was deliberately planned as Iowa was facing 4th down on thier own 1-yard line late in the game.
PSU jumped to a 2-0 lead when the snap went over Iowa punter David Bradley's head and was kicked out of the end zone for a safety.It was Penn State's 1st lead in a conference game this year.
2 Iowa FGs made it 6-2 at halftime.
Iowa only managed 3 first downs in the 2nd half.one of them was the result of a Penn State penalty.
Twice in the 2nd half,Penn State had the ball inside the Iowa 10-yard line,but failed to score both times.Robbie Gould missed a 25-yard chip shot,and QB Michael robertson was picked off on the 1 yard line late in the game.
