PEORIA, Arizona (Ticker) -- The San Diego Padres on Saturday agreed to terms on a minor league contract with outfielder Trenidad Hubbard and invited him to spring training.
Hubbard, 35, was released by the Toronto Blue Jays during spring training last season. He played in five games for Kansas City in 2001 and went 3-for-12 in five games before being designated for assignment.
Hubbard finished last season with the Chicago Cubs' Class AAA Iowa affiliate, hitting .316 with 31 RBI in 49 games.
A veteran of parts of eight major league seasons, Hubbard also has played with Colorado, San Francisco, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Baltimore. He is a career .267 hitter with 15 homers and 63 RBI in 377 games.
