I saw somewhere (I don't know where) that the Mets were offering Cliff Floyd for Bobby Higginson. Has anyone else heard anything like this? I can't find anything on it, but I know I read it somewhere on the net. I'll post a link if I can find one.

The Detroit Free Press reports the Tigers and Mets have discussed a swap of Bobby Higginson for Cliff Floyd.
Sounds like old news and may not be active anymore.

Only trade rumor I've heard involved Mike Lowell. Seems the Marlins must have a new stadium deal in place by Monday or Lowell can declare himself a free agent. Rumor has it the Tigers (Dombrowski) might be interested.
No mention of what the Tigers would have to cough up to get an all-star caliber thirdbaseman, though.

If the Tigers sign Lowell, then they cough up a draft pick only. I think Lowell would be fabulous for Detroit. Hope the Tigers can get such a great player.

Thanks, man. Sounds like it would be a fair trade, and good for both sides, but it must have fallen off the map sometime between now and then.
Signing Mike Lowell would absolutely kick arse!! Him and a starter and a long reliever would make us division title contenders.

I'd much rather get Lowell than Floyd.

Koz if I were you, I would too. Floyd is only good as a DH right now. He has even insinuated this past season that he is not really interested in playing much longer due to health issues. I would expect him to just up and retire without notice. Then again, maybe he said this because he didn't want to play for Art Howe.
