A slimmed-down Hidalgo appeared in camp this week, but Astros GM Gerry Hunsicker says excess weight wasn't precisely the problem when Hidalgo had his down year last season. He says Hidalgo bulked up via weight-training last offseason and though he was heavier, it was muscle mass.
Fantasy Spin: Club officials say he hasn't lost as much weight as it appears, but they're excited over the fact that he seems to have regained much of his flexibility and agility, which was the offseason goal. Hidalgo has a large frame and officials know he will never be as fast as he once was. But they're optimistic he can return to his 2000 hitting form, if not better. (Jim Carley/TSN)
