their is one thing i disagree with, i think pedro is a better pitcher than Mussina, but i think ESPN,put him down due to injuries, so my top ten is:

2.mike mussina
3.Roger clemens
4.freddie Garcia
5.mike mulder
6.tim hudson
7.barry zito
8.Chan Ho park
9.CC sabathia
10.Aaron Sele

sleepers:John burkett,Jamie moyer,david wells

Be wary of CC ... the Indians worked him a lot last season for a rookie and a down season is a good possibility.

Let someone else take CC in an early pick. Maybe he's established that he's a good capable Major League pitcher, which he is, but I think he is going to be overvaluead for what he does. And a late-season wear down or injury would not be impossible.

I wouln't rate Chan Ho Park so high. Although I don't have the numbers on the top of my head, he pitched much better at home last year than on the road. He is now moving to a very hitter-friendly Ballpark in Arlington and I would beware. Again not that he'd be really bad, but I guess an Aaron Sele year would be the norm. A 4.40 era and 14 or so wins. Good, but not top-ten quality imo.

And I think Lowe could have a great year. He's possibly the best groundball pitcher in baseball and if he can handle the workload of a starter (which he shoudlt have too much trouble with considering how he was used in the past) he could have a mid-3 or lower ERA. I definitley wouldn't rank him in the top ten though.

Id feel more comfortable with Hudson over Mulder and Zito because he has proven himself over a few years. Both Zito and Mulder performed well last year, but especially in Mulder's case, his numbers were never that impressive until last year... I'm not saying he isnt for real, but I would move Hudson above him only because hes a safer pick which is one of the keys in pitchers

Ok, definitely agree with Pedro as your #1 and Moose at #2...I had Moose last year and he was great...If they Yankees only scored more when he pitched he should have won 20.....Strikes out a lot of batters also...
I also would take Hudson over Mulder and Zito but would feel pretty good getting any of the 3....But if all 3 were available I would take Hudson...
Also agree with amag as I am always very weary of Cleveland pitchers...Yes CC was good last season but with a fat new contract I am betting he wont dupklicate those #'s.....
Chan Ho....Hmmmmm, I think I'd rather have Pettitte, Appier or even Sele before him...
Amag, you are correct with your statement that he did pitch much, much better in the pitching friendly confines of Dodger stadium last year.....Personally I think he will have an off year in Texas...High era....Just a gut feeling I have about him....Overpaid IMO:biggrin:

Watch Danys Baez too. He posted more than a K/IP last year and he's moving into the rotation. Very low ERA also. 13 wins, 3.20 ERA, 120-140 strikeouts is a good possibility. And he should go cheap, too. I can't see him being picked until round 13 at least.

Wow... awesome pick you made there. I thought about including him with my list of sleepers but was unsure if the job is all his. People are going to look him and his last year stats... looking at him as a releiver/starter but you are very right that he should have a starters job this year. I never even thought of that!!!

I think 1 top 10 pitcher should be on the team... like the top 10 guys we have been talking about, and after that, fill up with Sp's I suggested in the Lima plan thread. Maybe get 2 top 10's if you can, but I think if you get 1 top 10 guy and about 5 guys from the host of LIMA cantidates your starting pitching would be really solid. It would also allow you to spend some quality draft time getting the top tier hitters.

Does that sound like a solid strategy?

Well amag, it depends on the starter and who the LIMA pitchers are. If the pitcher is someone who can have a 3.50- ERA, it wouldn't be a bad plan. But over 3.50, we better take our chances on proven veterans rather than the Kevin Willises of the world.

Good call on Danys Baez Josh:biggrin:

We need to get together within the next week as the draft is less than 2 weeks away...

James-

Just set a time now and then people can say if its ok for them... If not, then we can work from there. But the sooner a date and time is set, the better.
