With Brent Butler's promotion from Triple-A Colorado Springs to the Rockies, seven players who made the 2000 U.S. Olympic team are in the major leagues.
Though an injury shortly after his Olympic appointment sidelined him for the gold medal run, Butler joins all-star pitcher Ben Sheets of Milwaukee (10-5, 3.60), first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz of Minnesota (.311, 11 HR, 50 RBIs), third baseman Mike Kinkade of Baltimore (.279-3-12), second baseman Brent Abernathy of Tampa Bay (.367-1-3), pitcher Roy Oswalt of Houston (6-1, 2.51) and reliever Ryan Franklin of Seattle (4-1, 3.63).
