Week 10 jottings:

-- I wonder if the Browns lost today puts Butch Davis on the hot seat. I could see Davis's name brandied around in rumors.

-- I am impressed with the job Denny Green has done in his first year in Arizona. I am not suprised either. He always has been an very good coach. It's a shame Vikings fans never appreciated him. I could see the Cards winning the NFC West if they can keep up their winning ways.

-- I think McCown has done a good job and I realize Denny Green has been able to get a lot out of QBs, but do Cards fans and even Denny trust McCown long term. They may need a QB from the draft in the long term.

-- Cards defense is underrated. Just ask Kurt Warner

-- Speaking of Kurt Warner, I am not sure if changing QBs is the right way to go for the Giants. Kurt has not been great, but why throw Eli Manning in there when the OL is horrible.

-- The Texans has laid an egg for the second consecutive week. I guess I can't take them seriously now. I guess when the pressure is off, they will do well.

-- How about David Gerrad stepping up for the Jags today?

-- Lions are not a playoff team and I wonder if Joey Harrington is the guy to take the Lions in the promise land.

-- Vikings and Seahawks are pretenders at this point.

-- Imagine if Lovie Smith started Craig Krenzel instead of Jonathan Quinn when Grossman got hurt. Bears could have led the NFC North.

I think you and I are a lot alike on things Leslie :D.
I to always liked Denny and thought he was a great coach. But it was time for him to leave the Vikings I feel. The team was getting away from him and Tice was the right guy to come in and get control quick. But he is a very good coach and always picks the right coachs under him to get the best out of a team it seems.
But the Cards will be a good team in a few years.

The thing is with the Giants O-line they are bad and I dont see them getting better anytime soon. So will it matter if Eli gets in now or next year? I dont think so. He is going to get killed... Oh by the way Eli and Archi what is the Bolts record?!?!?!?

Also on the Lions you are right about Harrington. How much longer do you wait until you put McMahon in. He did good with a bad team when he was starting those few games a few years ago.

Along with your statment of the Vikings and Seahawks are pretenders and the Bears could have been tied with first at least is there a worse div in the NFL than the NFC North? :banghead:

I also am impressed with Denny in Arizona. I don't think he has gotten the credit he deserves for the job he has done down there this year. By no means am I a Denny Green supporter. As a Packer fan, I have gotten a few laughs from him over the years. Like when he sued the owner for part ownership of the team and the quote Mike Tice echoed this year about Donte driving the nice car. But I think Denny's strength is making a team believe in themselves. He seems to be the kind of guy who likes to put the medias attention on him, and that lets his players be free of some criticism and just go out and play.

Denny had to go. His time was up. With that said, the criticism he got in the Twin Cities from fans and the media was ridculous. Has Denny brought this upon himself? Sure like the book he wrote where he wanted to sue the Vikings owners and attacked the media in Minnesota. With that said, he really got abused by the fans and all. You realize Vikings fans were ticked off that the Vikings beat the Giants in 1998 playoffs because that meant Denny's job was saved. That really got me angry. He was never appreciated as a coach. The knock was that he never won the big game. Well you know what. Bud Grant, who is a great coach, did not win the big game either yet he is adored in Minnesota. Why the double standard? I am so happy Denny is doing well in Arizona and I would love to see him win a Super Bowl over there just to stick it to his critics in Minnesota.
