did anyone have a problem with it? I didnt really have a problem with it per se, I just found it a very big stretch to tie in Desperate Housewives with MNF. And it was kinda lame, but nothing indecent IMO.

I mean, we DO have cheerleaders, the Coors Twins, and the Miller Lite commercials.

So did anyone have a problem with it?

No. People that were offended by that are stupid.

I was not offended myself. I did not think it was that big of a deal. In fact, I did not even notice or pay attention to it. I just shrugged it off.

Was ABC wrong for showing it? Yeah. It wasn't the place for it, but it wasn't a big deal either.

thing is, i do not watch desperate housewives, so I had no freaking clue what was going on. I wasn't offended, but I thought it was a retarded bit. Now that I know Housewifes, which afterall is an ABC show, is what they were after, it's all fine. maybe a little innapropriate, but whatever...i never liked the MNF openers anyway

I think that people need to focus a little bit less on the fact that the openers suck and realize that every MNF GAME this year has been inappropriate for viewers.

I had no problem with that. It's the same thing as fox planting the cast of The OC in the front row at the World Series.

Once again,it's a few people going overboard over nothing.ABC wanted to use Monday Night Football to promote Despatate Housewives.Mission accomplished.

Me I didnt see it but heard about it. Would have it bothered me no. But it would have bothered me if I had kids watching. Parents can control what there kids watch and you would guess that kids can watch football without being shown that. If it was people like us or adults watching no prob but if I had a kid that was with me watching I would be very very upset.

BTW,it's ironinc we are talking about this latest TV football uproar on this, the 36th anniversary of the "Heidi Bowl".

For you younger posters here.On November 17,1968,the New York Jets were leading the Oakland Raiders 32-29 with 1:05 remaining when NBC decided to pull the plug on the game at precisely 7pm ET for the movie "Heidi".

As the movie started, the Raiders scored 2 touchdowns within a 9 second span to defeat the Jets 43-32.There was more outrage over this game than what happened on Monday Night, because no one saw thew end of that game, except those who were at the Oakland Coliseum that afternoon.

12 year old kids (or under) on the east coast should be either doing homework or sleeping at that time. if you are 13 and older, it aint a big deal. ITs better than seeing Sipociwiz (from NYPD Blue) ass on TV.

Shoot Ray there was no way I was doing homework on Monday nights. Well I just never did homework.

But I was always watching football at a young age.... And I always watched Monday night.

Personally, I wasn't offended by the skit in any way, shape or form. In fact, I had never given it a second thought until it started making headlines in, well everything, I have no idea what the big deal is with this whole thing. As with most of you, I've never seen an episode of this "Desperate Housewives" and while I think it was a pretty cheesy ad for them, I don't see this doing any harm to our "innocent" youth.

As for Tony Dungy, I heard his interview on "Mike & Mike in the Morning" and honestly, my perception of him has lowered considerably. It seems that that one skit is the most important thing in the world and when the hosts made the comment that "there are plenty of other things much more than a woman's backside" Dungy said something along the lines of "Well you try telling your twelve year old about sexual intercourse, HIV, etc..."
Here's a thought Dungy, have you ever considered your child already knows about intercourse, because he probably does, and with the war in Iraq, terrorists, and countless other immoral things that go on today, the least of your worries is a woman's back. Thank you.

oh cmon I think some people are a little more interested in what happens to their children than to something that is happening halfway across the world. But can't you see that that skit had nothing to do with football? the only thing that drew that together with football was that T.O. was in it...other than that, nothing. If you only look at the current history of these kinds of things...(anyone remember the superbowl two years ago?? Janet Jackson anyone?) This is a little less, but it still isn't approriate for a football game. What is the reason for a shameless plug like that, specially if it's as "risque" as that was.

I love Dungy a great deal, but his comment about this ad being racism motivated is beyond silly. There were no racial issue in this whatsoever.

Ok, I have to be honest here, at the risk of being blasted by everyone on the site. I don't have a problem with the skit because it was supposedly racy. If it would have been a shampoo commercial or something with a woman and a towel dropping, nobody would say anything about it. So to me it wasn't that racy and the FCC need to get a life.

However . . . I do think that it objectified women in an inappropriate manner. Your common male football fan probably already thinks of females as little more than sex objects. I'm not pointing this at anyone in particular, it's just a general observation that I do not think most people would argue with. So they're reinforcing an already negative stereotype - women are objects, and for them to get respect (i.e. attention) they have to use their bodies. And they better be good looking or else forget about it. The message amounts to "you have to look like this. If you do, you can get things for sex, and athletes like Terrell Owens will like you." Not only that, but why does she want to have sex with Owens? Because he has money, or because he is famous? Another great idea to reinforce. "You have to get money and then you can have a lot of sex with women, because they will only like you if you have money, so do anything and everything you can to get it."

I'm sorry, but I'm sick of turning a blind eye to the subtext inherent in advertisements, commercials, tv shows, whatever, even if it is unintentionally included. Half of these types of ideas only exist because of their constant reinforcement by people who realize they can gain more capital by their perpetuation.

Sorry to get serious on you. If anyone was offended because they thought this was too "racy" to be at the beginning of a football game, I agree, they do need to lighten up.

1: Dungy is an idiot and a fraud.

2: Interesting OO Agent. While I understand what you're saying, I'm on the other side of this fence. Why can't we laugh and joke anymore? Why can't people just be silly and not have it taken the wrong way?

This world is WAY to PC for me. :(
