I think it's a good signing, but again like most free agents that sign their contract so far in this offseason, that's a too steep of a price.
I think the Tigers were better off using that money to invest on starting pitcher.
I wonder what happens to Urbina now. He is all but out the door. He is such a uncertainity with the Tigers with his situation.
Illitch has rewarded the fans who sold out Comerica by spending on the baseball team.

Illitch hasn't rewarded anything. He's finaly giving what he should have! It's about damn time too! I have no complaints towards him when it comes to the hockey team, he's great! But when it comes to the ball team, it just seems like he really just doesn't care.

I think Illitch has spent money on the club. Unfortunately, he made bad decisions on signing players who never made an impact on the Tigers.

can you give me some examples please? Juan Gone is the only one I can think of... well him and Munson last year. Munsons performance was unacceptable

Didn't the Tigers waste money on Vina

absolutely not! Fernando Vina was very valuable this past season. He got hurt and had to take some time off, shit happens

bobby higginson? ;)
really though, he overpaid a bit, but eh, detroit shouldnt be spending like a small market team. It was totally out of left field considering his agent was still in california (or wherever his agent is based).
damn, you stole him from us! eh, oh well.

How cute is that:D
Agreed that this is a very good signing for the Tigers... Now they just have to make sure they are in the position to get him enough save opportunities;)

Percival's a stud! I was definitely sorry to see him go, but I can see the financial reasons behind it. I agree with Guru though and hopefully the Tigers will give him some opportunities. I'm just glad he didn't sign with an AL West team! That would have sucked!

Great signing for the Tigers. Hope it works out well. I heard that Urbina would become a setup guy for Percy? Then again, it's not a bad thing to have two closers, is it? Hopefully the Tigers can afford both.

A good signing. Even if it goes all bad, the Tigers are only paying him for two years. Percival's deal just eats up the money lost on guys like Matt Anderson. His addition doesn't even raise the team's payroll. With as bad as the bullpen was, how can you not like this move?
The Tigers still need another arm or two in the pen, though. If Urbina gets dealt, make that three. For the record, I think Urbina should stay.
