I read that the owners have yet to vote off on the move in a website today. I hope that is not the case. There is no way the Expos should stay in Montreal. It would be a joke if that move does not go through. Fans given up on that team long time ago and if they have to stay in Montreal again, it would be embrassing for everyone involved. What could possibly be the holdup? Expos got a stadium in D.C. in the RFK Stadium, where the Redskins used to play.

The owners have delayed their vote because the city's part of stadium financing has not been approved by the DC city council. The sad part is, according to MLB's Bob DuPuy, the owners have no Plan B should the stadium bit with the city council fail. I'd love to see it blow up in their face.

Wait a sec. Hasn't the team been sold already? If so, why would owners still have a say? I'm confused here. (big surprise ;) )

sales can only be approved by the owners.

MLB still owns the Expos. There is no sole owner to buy the team just yet.

Right, and without that sole entity for the city to really deal with, it's difficult for a few folks (maybe two councilmen) to posit on the whole deal (i.e., plain English, the right people and/or the right number of people haven't been paid off yet to steal a line from Red Sox fan Stephen King).

This whole thing is starting to look like a real circle jerk in this crotchety old fart's mind :eyebrow

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Tickets for baseball in Washington went on sale at 12:01 a.m. Thursday through a Web site established by Major League Baseball.

DCBaseball.com began accepting deposits from fans interested in buying season tickets for all 81 home games during the 2005 season.

While the franchise has not been renamed yet, the team still known as the Expos is scheduled to open next season against the Arizona Diamondbacks at RFK Stadium on April 15. The game will mark the return of big league baseball to the nation's capital after a 33-year absence.

``Full season-ticket holders will enjoy benefits including discounts on merchandise and priority to purchase all potential postseason major league games played at RFK Stadium,'' read a portion of the caption attached to a link to the secured deposit Web site.

Subsequent pages featured a diagram of RFK Stadium as it is expected to be laid out for baseball.

Fans were advised that seats in 15 designated areas would cost from $7 to $40 per game, while premium seats in so-called Diamond Club areas would cost $90 per game at season-ticket rates.

Telephone deposits were being accepted between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Details on single game and partial season-ticket plans were to be announced later through Ticketmaster.
