from rotoworld.com:
The Blue Jays have told agent Barry Axelrod that Matt Clement is their priority free agent.
Still, they may not be too aggressive in trying to hammer out a deal, as they'd prefer to see whether the Cubs offer arbitration. If the Blue Jays do sign Clement to join Roy Halladay, Ted Lilly and David Bush in the rotation, it makes it quite a bit more likely that Miguel Batista will be used as a closer.
Wow, and off of the earlier list I posted, I thought Clement would be the least likely one that the Jays would go after. Still, it makes sense to wait a bit, I dont know how many other teams are pursuing him at this moment, but I'd rather wait and see how arbitration works out (not only for Clement, but for others to) and also how the non-tenders work out.

I read in the Rumours section of SI.com that not only is Clement the Blue Jays first choice among free agents, but that the feeling is mutual. Sounds promising, but we'll have to wait and see.

The main guy that's pushing for Clement is Jays pitching coach Brad Arnsberg. He worked with Clement when he was pitching coach for the Florida Marlins.

Halladay-Clement-Lilly-Bush-Towera rotation will get the job done next year, with Batista moving to the pen to possibly close. If this move is made, it would pretty much signal the end of Delgado's career in Toronto, so we would also have to go after a 1B, hopefully Durazo.
