ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Right-handed pitcher Jeremi Gonzalez and infielders Geoff Blum and Damian Rolls were released Friday by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

The club also added right-handers Jason Hammel and Brian Stokes and left-hander Chris Seddon to the 40-man roster.

Gonzalez split last season between Tampa Bay and Triple-A Durham, going 0-5 with a 6.97 ERA in 11 games -- including eight starts -- for the Devil Rays.

Blum batted .215 with eight homers and 35 RBIs in 112 games, while Rolls played in 53 games and hit .162 with no homers and nine RBIs.

Well, I guess Gonzalez has worn out his welcome. He's had such hard luck but maybe someone somewhere can get him back on track.

I'm a bit surprised about Blum but then again, maybe the D-Rays are moving salary to make room for some FAs?
