Jays' Loaiza shut down for 15 days

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dunedin, FL (Sports Network) - Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Estaban Loaiza will be out for at least 15 days with a lesion in the labrum of his right shoulder.
Loaiza was Toronto's opening day starter in 2001. He ended up in the bullpen by midseason and finished the season with an 11-11 record and a 5.02 ERA.

Entering his ninth Major League season, Loaiza has also played with Pittsburgh and Texas and has a career-record of 60-63.

Feb 25, 2002 Loaiza will not throw for the next two weeks after doctors discovered a lesion in the labrum of his right shoulder. The Blue Jays' pitcher is expected to fall in the middle of the team's starting rotation this season. (STATS, Inc.)

Feb 24, 2002 News: The Toronto Sun reports that an MRI on the right shoulder of Blue Jays pitcher Esteban Loaiza has revealed a small slap lesion (labrum tear) and will sideline him 10-14 days at a minimum. The Jays are hoping that a few weeks of rest followed by exercise will alleviate the problem.
Views: We're guessing the rest and exercise routine won't do the trick...does it ever? If Loaiza needs surgery he might miss the entire season. He was already barely clinging to a shot at the fifth spot in the rotation, but it looks like Justin Miller or Brian Cooper could get the nod now. (Fanball.com)
