Hello all. I just converted myself to the fandom of Detroit Tigers baseball. As a LONG TIME Blue Jays fan, I became weary of the team seemingly making no legitimate effort to produce a winner. I love my Jays and always will, but it's time for me to switch my allegiance to another team.

Why Detroit you may ask? Well, it came down to 8 teams:
Detroit,
DC: I'm starting new and so are they. Also, their AA affiliate is in Harrisburg, Pa...my current "home".

St. Louis: LOVE Edmonds, Rolen, Morris, and Pujols.

Cleveland: Like their young talent and the direction they are going. Living in Harrisburg, I've seen some of the minor leaguers from both the Clev affiliate and the Expos who were then traded to Clev.

San Diego: Like their youth and LOVED Giles as a Pirate

Colorado: I'm a Denver Broncos fan and considered staying in the same city.

Pittsburgh: Somewhat Local (although I HATE Philly)

Florida: Delgado is rumored to be going there.

But alas, I chose Detroit. Many factors were considered: direction of team (not a bandwagon, but I need a squad that will at least TRY), facility, convenience of actually seeing the team, current roster, and yes...uniforms.

Detroit has a nice, new ballpark and a classic looking uniform. I LOVE orange and blue, so that fits. Myt folks live in Northwestern PA so when I can go home, Detroit and Windsor are a trip worth taking for a game. Plus I can see them in B-more when they come. The team IS an up and comer. Some laugh when I mention it, but you can see the wheels beginning to turn. AND I LOVE PUDGE. Consumate pro and team guy.

2nd place was DC. What the FRICK is a National???

Welcome to Tigertown. I'm surprised you didn't opt for a NL team to avoid any conflict with the Jays. I'm guessing you are too young to remember the Jays/Tigers rivalry of the 1980's.

The Tigers bandwagon is always open to new members. Hope you choose to stay for the entire trip. Let's hope they give us something to cheer about in 2005.

Oh, and a National is someone from the nation. Dictionary explanation: Of or belonging to a nation. Example: A Brazilian soccer player in England is often referred to as a Brazilian "National". Hope that helps. I would have preferred Grays or Senators as the nickname myself.

Yeah, their AA team here in Harrisburg is named the Senators. Woulda been a nice fit.

I'm an AL type of guy. Never really got into the NL too much. Not sure why though.
