it's only been three days, but I love my new class! They are uncommonly kind and accepting of each other AND I give a direction and they follow it! They are polite and my biggest issue with them is that they want to the right thing and they want their peers to do the right thing and as a result they get a little sensitive. They are total sweethearts who work quietly and listen and their parents care. Amen to that! :D

Great to hear it, Kat!
I'm sure you don't even feel or care about the longer commute now that you're having stress-free days!

Terrific, Kat!! Glad you're getting happy again. :)

They obviously haven't found out that you're a Mets fan. ;)
Congrats Kat, glad you're settled into your new surroundings so quickly.

Wait a sec, I count 7 people who replied... who are you excluding? Oh, it must be Dan (Obri), since he's a fan of that hated NY team and he made a crack about the Mets... :D

Maybe she hates Brooklynites?!?

^ Usually, I'd say that can't be, since Kat herself is a Brooklynite. BUT, notice how she used to teach in Brooklyn and is now teaching in Queens??? Coincidence? I think not! (then again, I'm not a Brooklynite, so I'm not worried... :D )

I wondered about the people count as well. Some of you city folk treat us Long Islanders like lepers, so perhaps I was the one she excluded.
Or maybe it was someone from a foreign country!

To set the record straight:
I love Canadians!
One of the few Yankee fans I love is Dan! ;)
Technically Brooklyn is part of LI!
Brooklyn and Queens both rock!
Awhhhh, all 7 of ya are great! And I'm a loser who miscounted!

I've lived in Long Island for 9 years. I still treat you folks like lepers.

Hold on there, Missy! As OYH, I don't think you're allowed to make such statements!
Technically Brooklyn is part of LI!
From a geographical standpoint, you're correct. From a mind-set standpoint? No way... ;)
Brooklyn and Queens both rock!
You got that right!

Nah, you ain't a loser. It must've just been a mental block... gee, I wonder which of the posters caused you to have that mental block... betcha it was that Yankee fan... or maybe it was the Canadian... possibly the Brooklynite... or maybe the LI-er...

I plead the fifth!
OMG--what is this feeling? I'm not dreading tomorrow? I acn't tell what it feels like to be happy at my job, however the commute is what's gonna kill me. On a good day I get there in 1 hr 20 min, on a bd day it can take up to two hours. But I'm coming from South Brooklyn to Northern Queens. So I guess that is the way the cookie crumbles.

As long as you're happy with the job, then that commute will seem like it's going fast.At least that's what i think.

Would you ever consider moving to Queens to shorten the commute? I know in the past, I've joked about that, but this time I'm being serious. And yes, I know you just moved into your new Brooklyn apt. so I wasn't even thinking of you moving "right away", but just something to consider if the commute does end up making you miserable... :) (or just buy yourself a helicopter :D )
(AND, think how much closer you'd be to Shea!...)

Hmmmm, I have some quirks about Queens: the way the streets are named.
75th Avenue
75th Street
75th Road
Just name it 75th Avenue, 76th Avenue and 77th Avenue
#2 The severe lack of subways. Queens buses are terrible, packed and infrequent! If a neighborhood is dependent on the NYC buses, then they have to run more often.
I would live in Queens if it were close to the subway.
Eric, you are so right about that commute. If the worst thing about my job is the commute via subway/bus then I'm blessed. :D

Ha ha, that's been the complaints of many about Queens! Since I grew up in Queens, I thought that was the most normal thing! :D Actually, there are historical reasons why they did that: Queens used to be many separate towns, each with their own streets numbers; when the towns were consolidated into 1 borough in 1898, they had to renumber EVERYTHING (the renumbering didn't occur until a few years later). If every little street had a new number, the last street in Queens would've been way too high (like 500th St.) So, only the "main" streets got a number and smaller streets used the same number, but changed to "Ave" or "Rd", etc. Anyway, it's a long story, but something similar didn't happen in Brooklyn (that I'm aware of) since Brooklyn was its own city to begin with anyway and didn't need to consolidate a bunch of dissimilar streets.
(Then again, Brooklyn has its own confusing quirkts for this Queens boy! )

Yeah, can't argue with that! I've always lived near the subway, so definitely make that a priority! No way would I live in Queens w/out a subway nearby. Of course, I also have a car... which, in that part of Queens, can come quite in handy! :D
