Randolph's first game as skipper will be March 2
By Kevin T. Czerwinski / MLB.com

NEW YORK -- Willie Randolph will get his first taste of managing in the big leagues on March 2 when the Mets open their exhibition schedule against the Washington Nationals in Viera, Fla.

That contest will be the first of 34 Spring Training games New York will play across the Sunshine State.

The home schedule begins a day later when the Mets and Cardinals square off in the spring's first night game at Tradition Field. It will be the first of 17 home games, as well as the first of six games against St. Louis. The Mets will also face the Nationals and the Marlins six times apiece.

The Dodgers will square off with New York five times, including three matchups in Port St. Lucie. The National League East champion Braves have four meetings with the Mets, including a home-and-home series on March 6 and 7 at Disney World and St. Lucie.

New York will also have a split-squad game on March 6, hosting the Nationals. Other split-squad games will take place on the 12th (St. Louis at home/Dodgers at Vero Beach) and 20th (Los Angeles at home/Orioles in Ft. Lauderdale). There are seven night games on the docket as well.

The club's final Spring Training game will take place in Jupiter on April 2 against the Marlins. The Mets will fly to Cincinnati for an April 3 workout in preparation for the season opener against the Reds on April 4.
