If you play in a deep AL fantasy league, or if you're just a Twins fan, keep an eye on this kid catcher. The number one pick in the 2001 Amatuer draft, a lot of people thought this was only a price control pick by the Twins. Not neccessarly so.

He is mature beyond his years(18). The ball launches off his bat. He came to camp at 6'4", 225 lbs., adding a solid 15 pounds to his lean frame. A lefty, during his first BP session he was spraying linedrives from sideline to sideline. Then during the second round he started turning on some pitches and was nailing the ball.

The pitchers are all talking about how well he handles himself behind the plate, both during warmups and during live action BP. He still has to work on his footwork a bit but he has a rocket for an arm.

This sounds like an awfully bold prediction on my part but from what I've seen, he could end up being a Dale Murphy type hitter while remaining behind the plate.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him with the big team by the time he was 21. Expect himto move throught he system as fast as he shows he can handle it.

Win Twins!!
