Remember Toe Nash, the teen phenom Tampa Bay found in a Louisiana sugar cane league and signed before learning he had a long legal history? He's off to an expected slow start in his first taste of organized baseball since before high school. In 12 games for Princeton (W.Va.) of the rookie Appalachian League, Nash is hitting .222 (10 for 45) with three doubles, two homers, five RBIs, seven walks and 21 strikeouts.

He has a cannon arm, but already has three errors in left field. He is, however, meeting all the requirements required of his probation, and a Princeton official says he is a model houseguest with his host family.

He's real alright. The original story you probably saw is located here: http://espn.go.com/gammons/s/2001/0111/1007850.html (to anyone who hasn't read this - It's a heck of a story!)

Here's a couple of stories detailing his brushes with the law:
http://espn.go.com/mlb/s/2001/0208/1070845.html http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2001/0209/1073743.html

I hope things work out for him. I don't know about him being the next Babe Ruth, though.
