-- I did not get my hopes up on the Lions winning the game. I knew the Packers would win. Quite frankly, Packers deserve to win the NFC North. Vikings shot themselves in the foot too many times like last year.
-- I could not believe my eyes that the Saints won.
-- John Fox is the anti-Jim Haislett.
-- Carolina is making the playoffs. It helps for them that the Vikings are pulling an El Choko.
-- I am enjoying Eli Manning's struggles. With that said, I am going to appreciate while it lasts because he is going to be good. Giants are doing the right thing staying with the course with him.
-- What a great story Jerome Bettis is. After not expecting him to do much and him possibly losing his job to Duce Staley, it's good to see him do well.
-- When all is said and done, will the Browns win the first pick?
-- While it's great that Peyton breaks Marino's records or when Farve is starting his 200th game, I don't think it's that big of a deal. I worry about winning games and championships.
-- Had the Broncos lose to the Phins today, I thought they were done. They still have a lot of work to do though.
-- I am really hoping that it's the Steelers/Pats for the AFC Championship Game. Not only would it be a great game, but I only give the Steelers a shot to beat the Pats.

Yeah, I don't think we win that game if it's in New England

I disagree. The Steelers are god-awful at home in AFC Championship games at home. I think they would fare better on the road.
Anyhoo, I'm not sure it matters. Indy will win the AFC this year. You read it here first.

The Super Bowl will be the AFC game this year. The NFC is just bad.
Three teams like the Colts, Pats and Steelers are looking so very good. I dont think the Steelers or Pats care where they play really. Both teams have good running backs and can get the ball down field but play on the running game.
How huge will a heathy Bus be in the playoffs. I saw the Duce signing for the Steelers as a great move for them because that ment just what is going to happen. The Bus will be going round and round come the playoff time. And the Pats with Dillion. What more has to be said.
One of those teams win home field unless they fall apart and the Colts sneak in and get it. The only way the Colts win the AFC is if they win home field. To win on the road in the playoffs is hard very hard. And a team that passes it as much as the Colts do to win on the road in January in two places where the weather can be very bad makes it that much harder.
Am I counting the Colts out no way in hell. If the weather is nice for any of those games it could be anyones game. But if it is cold and windy or snowy the team that plays on the run wins and I just see everyone getting on the Bus to watch this year....

The Colts do struggle historically on the road. I just think it's Peyton's year. This is his best shot to get a ring this year. I think he gets it.

What are you basing this on? The one year that we played at home and gave the game to the Patsies?
I guess 1994 is the other one that applies here...but still, that's only two.

Aren't the Steelers 1-4 in AFC games at home?

Playing four home AFC title games in as few as eight seasons has happened only twice, and it has occurred both times with the Steelers. They played AFC championships in Three Rivers Stadium after the seasons of 1972, '75, '78 and '79 seasons, losing only in '72.

So there is three wins right there...
Plus they won at home in 96 against the Dolts
So I think they've only lost three at home then...72, 94, 2002

:laff: No biggie. I just thought they were a better road team. I could be wrong. I had forgot about 01. I thought that was in Foxboro, so, that's how much I know.

it was an AFC Championship game. I remember Kordella throwing a few key picks in that game

i still don't think the colts are all too great away from home...i mean...look at what peyton did in the playoffs last year in harsh conditions...its going to be the pats and the steelers in the AFC game...the steel will want revenge i think for 01, and the pats will be playing for 2 consecutive superbowls...that game may even be better than the superbowl itself.

That is the key point right there that I was making. You are right on this Datch.
This team will have to go into Pitt or Fox and play a team that will run and smash it in your face and play some smash mouth defense. If the weather is bad the Colts are out. To hard to pass vs great defense like the Pats and Steelers in the first place add in cold or nasty weather no chance. But PP will be right if the weather is good and nice on the day the play the AFC game. But that is a lot of ifs....

Who cares about what the records were in the past in AFC championship games at home??? What we have to look at is th efact that the Steelers THIS year are undefeated at home. For that matter, they are only 0-1 in AFC championship games at Heinz Field, and most of the guys on this current team were not on that team.... so it makes no difference at all.

I would love to see the Colts go to the Super Bowl and win it, but they don't have the defense and I am not sure if Peyton is going to throw crazy numbers against great D. I still think the Pats are the team to beat even if they have to go to Heinz Field and play the Steelers in the AFC Championship Game.
