SEATTLE -- Just two weeks after his firing at Notre Dame, Tyrone Willingham has landed another job.
Washington officials believe the bookish coach can restore the school's sagging football program to national prominence while wiping away a messy smear from the Rick Neuheisel years.
"I am excited about being here," Willingham told reporters Sunday evening before meeting with players on campus.

and the fans here seem to be split 50-50 on him.
Personally, I think the Huskies did a great job to land him. For a team that has had a problem with the NCAA on rules violations, Willingham is the perfect guy to head the team. If there is one thing he has always excelled upon, it is character.
It will be interesting to see how he does recruiting with the academic restrictions placed on his programs, like Stanford and Notre Dame.
With all that said, I hope they continue to struggle and suck, while the Oregon Ducks return to top form. GO DUCKS!!!!

Yeah, I think he'll do a great job there. He never got a fair swing of it at ND, imo.

I think Washington is a much better fit for Willingham than Notre Dame and believe he'll do very well there. Congrats to the Huskies for getting the best man out there!

I guess I was kind of pulling for Tice to get the job. I think he would have been a great fit there. A young guy that played the game and he would have the kids under control but they could have fun under him and him be a players coach also.
I think he could put together a great program with those things and knowing what it takes to get to the NFL.
I was just pulling for Tice just because I feel he is a good coach and he isnt getting a fair shake in the NFL just because of the owner that is above him.

I'd actually like to see Tice coach the Seahawks.

You might get to see that. But talking to >TC< he said that he thinks Tice will be around one more year but the OC is going to be gone. But then he just might get that chance also. I think the NFL sees that Tice will make a great head coach it is he is just dealing with a dumb ass owner...

You can have him. I will take Holmgren over Tice anyday.
