Despite horrific struggles in recent weeks, Tom Coughlin still believes that Eli Manning is going to be an outstanding quarterback for the reeling New York Giants.

Coughlin reiterated Monday that the No. 1 pick in the draft will start against the Pittsburgh Steelers (12-1), adding that giving Manning a week off to clear his head wasn't an option.

Thank you so much Coughlin! The Black and Gold need this one to keep home field alive. Actually, I sort of agree with this. If he is the guy for the future, and you have written the season off and do not want Warner in there, then let him take his lumps. He may look ugly for a bit, but in the long run it will be good for him. Hey, Ben took his lumps last week in what was easily his worst game of the year.

Why wouldn't he start Eli?

I think the Giants are doing the right thing going with Eli. Kurt Warner wasn't getting it done. Giants might as well let Eli take his lumps now than wait another year as Greymire mentioned. Let the Giants get this one over with.
