Just watched Steelers-Giants game. Pittsburgh looks very beatable to me.
And I would think to quite a few of their probable playoff opponents who will watch the game tape.

Special teams coverage killed us in this game as well as the fact that we were a bit lacking on defense. Keep in mind, though, that our #1 special teams coverage man played the OLB position today, so he was not on special teams. Last week, he made every single special teams tackle. Hopefully Clark Haggans will be back next week so he can return to his special teams slot.

I can see the rest of the league thinking that the Steelers look beatable, but I think that if anything, this game proved just the opposite. They have shown that they can win with defense the past few weeks, so we knew that. Today, they proved that they can win games when the defense doesnt have it all together simply by scoring points. The offense overall probably played one of their better games of the season.

Those who say the Steelers are beatable have to consider some things. Just simply look at the injuries which we have had to deal with. Today, we were playing without the following guys:

Kendall Simmons-#1 draft pick 2 seasons ago at OG
Duce Staley- starting RB
Plaxico Burress- Stating WR
Casey Hamtpon- All Pro Nose tackle
Clark Haggans- Starting OLB
Kendrell Bell- Starting MLB
Chad Scott- Starting CB

Then, consider the fact that we have won 12 games in a row with our 3rd string quarterback. The Giants played well today... The Steelers defense didnt play so well. They got out of NY with a win not because they were lucky today, but because they are a damn good football team. Just because the game was close does not mean that they are a vulnerable football team.

Funny I heard that the Pats was very beatable when they was making there SB runs just because they was playing close games.

The Steelers are a defense and a run team. No way around it. If you are a run team you play close games. Playing on the road in NY is tough. I dont care what anyone says a NFL team can beat any team any given day. Add in the home field this was going to be a hard game for the Steelers. The Gaints are wanting a win very bad and they are playing there butts off. They had a fairly good game today.

I dont think the Steelers are in any trouble. With a healthy Bus that is was saved for the playoffs and getting Duce back around the playoffs they will be the one that support Ben.

Dont forget also that ben completed his last 8 passes, and also had his highest throwing output of the entire season. Yes, he made a couple of bad throws, but he also made some huge throws throughout the game.

I am sitting here right now trying to decide who to give the game ball to... Do you give it to:

Jerome Bettis- 36 carries/139 yards
Antwon Randle El- 5 catcher 149 yards 1TD/throw for a TD also
Hines Ward- 9 catches 136 yards
Ben Roethlisberger- 18-28 311 yards TD

I am thinking that maybe I want to give it to Jerome, but I am just not too sure. Cant go wrong with any of them.

Hey, I just love beating that clown Coughlin and his little baby boy Eli!

the steelers do strike some resemblance to the pats of 01...they win a lot of games by less than 10 points. they do just enough to win, and play as good, and a little better than whatever team they are playing. this makes them look bad when they play the giants, but makes em look amazing when they play the pats, or the eagles, or whatever other good team they play.

and just to say...every team has its injuries, thats no excuse. the pats are playing without a secondary and they keep winning, so...

Jerome Bettis in my book. I think the signing of Duce was the best move the Steelers did so that this guy will not be out of gas come playoffs.

... Then, consider the fact that we have won 12 games in a row with our 3rd string quarterback....

I expected a lot of "Steelers-Are-Just-Fine-Thank-You" comments, but that one is a wee bit over the top...Ben was maybe your #3 QB in his first start, but #1 since....I doubt you go very deep in the playoffs without Ben taking the snaps.
Anyway, I only said Steelers looked beatable today....and I still think they did....they may well win out, playoffs and all, but they will have to be better than today.

Datch, I wasnt making injury excuses. I was saying that this is a great football team BECAUSE they have continued to win even though they have had injuries to many very key players. That is the sign of a great football team.

If the Steelers have looked so beatable recently, how come no one has been able to beat them?

That's what I'm saying! :)

Haha, I was cracking up when Eli looked like he was going to cry a couple of times during the game yesterday!

Every thread tends to serve some purpose.

The original purpose of this thread was to simply throw out an opinion on yesterday's Steeler victory looking rather tenuous, against a weak, demoralized NYG team, which aside from other woes, has a rookie QB having problems.

Judging by the last few posts, the thread is now an abject lesson in what happens when people forget to take their Ritalin. :hmm:
...so it still serves some purpose.

Hey Shawn and Dan...could you play your worst players and park the Bus in 2 weeks when you play the Bills..since the game really wont mean anything for the Steelers??? I'd appreciate it!

As for the Steelers..damn their kicking butt..hence me asking the favor  their the team who beat both undefeated teams..the Bus is a monster and Big Ben has got to be the best rookie QB around and he's doing on hell of a job too.
Are they beatable? If they play their worst players and park the Bus , yeah their beatable..other than that..don't think so.

Kellye, they already are playing their "worst" players since all of the starters are hurt..;)

they could park Bettis, but since his replacement is a prtty darn goo dback himself, it probably wouldnt make much of a difference.

Not to mention the fact that the Buffalo game WILL mean a lot. Chances are it will probably be for home field advantage, as well as the fact that the Steelers definitely do NOT want to lose to Tom Donahoe and Mike Mularky.

Every game the rest of the way means a ton for the Steelers in the AFC. They are playing for home field. They dont want to go and play the Colts at there home...

Shad, I am pretty sure that there is no way that the Colts would be able to get a home game over the Steelers. If the colts win their last 3, and the Steelers were to lose, I think the Steelers would hold the tiebreaker. Although, I could be wrong. I was once.

I think it is something like that. But I feel that the Steelers want to get home field. Much better in front of your fans and your team making that money than the other team.

OK shawn..how about IF you already have homefield when you play the Bills???? Then maybe you could just forfit..since your right, most of you starters are out!
Liked seeing the Ravens lose lastnight..that always helps the Bills...sorry..know you didn't want the Colts to win!

actually, i did want the colts to win. I NEVER want to see the Ravens win a game.
