On 2-23 at 11:45 Pdaj posted a trade

At 12:09 I accepted and confiremed.

Pdaj later realized that he didnt have one of the draft picks that he was supposed to have traded. Thus the trade should be null and void, acording to league rules.

At 12:24 Pdaj edited his original post with new draft picks.

This trade was never reconfirmed by me. The league rules are that both teams have to confirm a trade and it must be done with a post.

A verbal agreement does not mean anything unless it is confirmed through a post. Until it is posted and confirmed by both teams, it is not a trade. It does not matter what the teams agreed on ahead of time. This is the same situation as Smelly and I had. Everyone said that since there was not a confiming post, it was not a trade. No matter what was discussed between the teams.

I hate to see it come down to this, but everyone wants to refer to the rules and follow them to the tee. Durring the chat, many people thought that Pdaj should just reverse the trade to make things the way they were. But it was brought up that according to the rules, he did not have to. Well acording to the "rules", this was never a trade and there should be nothing to vote on. I know that many owners are buddy buddy with Pdaj and I am sure that their opinions will be heard. But the fact are:

#1 an invalid trade was made as the draft picks were not valid.
#2 The trade is void due to the draft error.
#3 A new trade was posted and never confirmed.

It does not matter what the percieved agreement was. It also does not matter if the new deal is better or worse. It was never confirmed.

I do not see what anyone needs to vote on. If there is a vote, it should be on what the new rules shoud be so this does not happen again.
But to vote to allow or disallow a trade that does not conform to the current rules does not make sence.

I'm a little confused as to whats going on with this post? Is there another problem involving a trade so quickly? I thought everything was worked out during the chat? Can someone fill me in...

About the rules, i never realized we had any rules(I had asked for them to be posted when the league started forming again and no one seemed to want to do this). I'm not saying you are right or wrong about the situation, because honestly i dont have an opinion since i have dont know what this is regards to. Last i knew, i thought everything was cleared up.

Can someone clear things up for me?

This is basically what I e-mailed James in relation to the "issue" at hand:

This league has now crossed the line for me.. it has become beyond ridiculous. And although many of us managers deserve partial blame for the current problems existing in this fantasy league, Nate has overwhelmingly caused the most damage. The guy is 26 years old .. yet has demonstrated the most childish, apalling, and manipulative behavior I have ever seen considering the circumstances. I've now hit my boiling point.

What Nate has told you is partially true - not surprisingly. Like he stated, the original trade involved Larry Walker and a 9th round pick for Edgardo Alfonzo, Aaron Boone (DL), and my 7th round selection. However, moments after making the trade official, I informed Nate that I did not have a 7th round pick.

His initial response?

"Well, that was your mistake. Take it like a man."

I then told him that any trade in which the facts of the trade were incorrect, would be ruled invalid. With this mentioning, he knew that inorder to keep the trade legit, we had to re-negotiate the deal. During this process we hit a snag. He wanted me to give him my 5th for his 7th, however, I felt since a 5th round pick had much more worth considering the relatively thin draft, thus a 7th rounder would not be sufficient.

We argued to the point where I threatened to just cancel the trade. He then responded by saying, "It was your mistake and you have to live with it." I then said, "Well, the deal is off .. if the details of the trade remain invalid, the trade will not count." He said, "Fine, cancel it. But explain how it was your mistake and not mine."

I then gave in.. and said... "You know what? Fine. I'll change it."

He said, "My 7th for your 5th?"

I confirmed.. and he said, "ok."

If he had any problems with the deal at that point, he could have easily voiced his opinion in the thread. He could have posted directly under the original post .. "Not vaild. The original trade included a 7th rounder, not a 5th." In my opinion, by his lack of action.. or in other words.. his failure to post the "discrepency" or voice his desire to cancel the trade.. this non-action is just as good as having had reposted the trade and re-confirmed it. Instead, I did the same thing through a faster, more technologically convenient way.

The only way Nate's argument would have applied is if he would have claimed that he was unaware of my edit. However, he already acknowledged that he confirmed the change. Therefore.. he knew about the chnage.. knew his prior post confirmed this change .. and did not post any desire to cancel the trade or deny confirmation following the change.

For this reason, I believed our trade was, indeed, confirmed.. and thus, valid.

Also.. take into consideraton.. how long has it been since the actual event? And only now he complains.. about recieving a higher pick? He's looking for any loophole possible.. and their comes a point whereby we must draw a line and maintain some sort of control.

If we allow Nate to weasel out of every deal he decides to regret, the complaining and fighting will never cease. If I honestly thought reversing the trade would help the league.. I would. Heck, I thought I was doing that with the Petrick debacle. Instead, things got worse.. and we need this crap halted.

This league has become absolutely ridiculous.

Anyhow, that is the absolute truth.. an accurate depiction of how the events transpired. I hope I was of some help.

Sorry I responded so late.. midterms have been difficult.

Pdaj,

It was said all along that to reverse this deal would fix everything. You knew all along what the deal was with Smelly and when if fell through, you laughed out loud about it. You knew that the only way I would do this deal, is if I had a trade with Smelly and you confirmed this with me. I told you I wanted to do this as a 3 way trade but you were in too much of a hurry to allow it. I am not blaming you for what Smelly did, but you knew the situation and could very easily reversed the trade. I am just following the rules to the tee, just like you do. You use the rules to your advantage any time you can, especially when you can steal a DL keeper or pawn one off on someone who trust you. And if they figure it out after the deal is posted? Too bad, the rules are the rules. I believe that is what you told me.

Nate, you're forgetting ...

In our last trade .. we exchanged Penny/Belliard/Clark/2nd round pick for Miller/Petrick/Groom.

According to the rules.. the trade was confirmed.. and I had no obligation to change anything.

Instead, we altered the trade.. making it ... Penny/Belliard/Clark/3rd round for Miller/Groom.

Are you telling me that you didn't benefit from my willingness to mend the issue?

Please.
