Strategy: For the first few rounds, I am going to bid at what I feel is 70-95% of the player value just to make sure the winning bid is at least near what I think the player’s value is… And if I win some players, then I have some minor bargains. Who I win will determine my strategy in later rounds.

Strickland,Scott P MON (GEEK) - $22. Little competition in Montreal and will still get saves.
Ankiel,Rick P STL (DOGG) - $3. I’ll let someone else take a chance.
Aurilia,Rich SS SF (USCG) - $17. Should be able to repeat.
Isringhausen,Jason P STL (FISH) - $25. See if I can sneak him off cheap.

Sweet looks like I found my price enforcer already :cool:

Seems the Geek has outbid me on every player in the 1st round except for Ankiel (I just love the $30-40 potential he has) The Baum Threat is notorious for holding their money until the "squeeze" can be applied.

Mental note made that Geek actually brought up a player he likes judgig from his bid. Strickland was a sexy sleeper pick last year but the Expos will win too few games and are far too willing to trade anyone. Makes their closing situation too flakey for my dollars (especially 20+ of them).

I am the price enforcer, at least until I win every player in a round.

Montreal is a flaky team now, but it seems to me that they will be LESS likely to trade a player this year then in year's past.

In a keeper league, I would bring down the bid.

But a closer on a crappy team still puts up 20-30 saves. And Strickland doesn't have much competition for the job in my eye. Mota maybe?

I'd love to discuss Strickland further, after round 1 is complete...
