Well, January 4th is the date that we find out who the HOF inducts, and while Wade Boggs is pretty much a shoo-in for the Hall, there are several other candidates who deserve to make it.

I dont really understand how Ryne Sandberg hasnt made the HOF yet, as he was one of the best defensive 2b of all time. He also hit for power (retired as the leader for 2b with 277 homers), hit for average (for most of his career until his last coupla years), ran the bases well (over 75% SB success rate).

Should it be held against him that his team never made it to the WS? If not for Leon Durham in 1984, they woulda made it.

The simple fact is he shoulda been elected on the first ballot, and he should be elected this time around.

I wont even bother to go into Ron Santo as everyone already knows what my opinion is of him not making it in is.

If I was given one vote between Sandberg and Boggs, I'd vote for Sandberg. He was a more complete player in my book than Boggs. Nothing against Wade; the Chicken Man was one of the game's all-time best hitters and deserves enshrinement as well.

Blame it on the self-righteous hypocrites casting the ballots for Santo being excluded so long and Sandberg being snubbed in the '04 balloting.

Sandberg getting in was a no-brainer there. It was going to happen sooner than later.

Congratulations #23. You earned it.

can only 2 people be elected a year?

Nope... I dont think there is a minimum or maximum limit... It all depends on the voting..

The players have to get a certain percentage of the vote so no, there is no limit. And the writers get to vote for 10 players from what I understand. Really pleased for Ryno and PopTop, I agree with you completely about Ryno being a more complete player than Boggs.

I still haven't forgiven Boggs for sitting out the last week of the '84 (think it was that year) season when he and Mattingly were neck and neck for the batting title and Boggs wanted the title so he sat out. Mattingly didn't. Talk about a selfish player. :hmm: Oh, the claim was a bad back but even back then many didn't believe it to be true.
