ouch ouch ouch.... while I love the fact that you both listed my favorite pitcher of all time... and the one I consider to be the best ever... I do have a problem with you both spelling his last name wrong..;)
I also like you listing him over that Johnson guy in your list...;) You seeing that, Jaymez?? :D

Sorry there Shawn, I just copied his name above. :laff:
I forgot about Lefty Grove and Joe Wood.
I agree with the two lists Willie. I'll revise mine to what Willie wrote:
5 that I never saw but:
Koufax
Mathewson (Spelled it right this time)
Lefty Grove
Joe Wood
Warren Spahn
5 I did see:
Ron Guidry
Tom Seaver
Randy Johnson
Nolan Ryan
Steve Carlton

J.A., how can you NOT have Walter Johnson in your top 5??
He is the greatest of all-time!!
Top 5 all-time:
Walter Johnson
Mordecai Brown
Lefty Grove
Christy Mathewson
Pete Alexander
Top 5 I have seen:
Pedro Martinez
Roger Clemens
Randy Johnson
Nolan Ryan
Greg Maddux
I was real tempted to put Pedro in the top 5 of all-time.. His #'s for this era of baseball are just phenominal...

I'm looking a bit more into numbers in that, I like the history of the dominance of pitchers. I guess I'll do some more reading on Walter Johnson. :D

Thanks James, I enjoyed that thread. It was long so I wanted to spend time reading it. :D
What I find really amazing is that a mere $9 and the Pirates would have had one of the greatest pitchers of all time.
I do wish that we could see some of these players play. I'm fascinated with Honus Wagner and Pie Trainor for some reason. Not sure why :notme:

Well, I don't take James as the end all/be all anyway ;)
That is why I admitted to Johnson being "one of the greatest" and I'm not necessarily sold on Johnson being the greatest. Besides, I think it depends on one's personal definition of "great". :D
