Oh Baby, it's cold outside! The wind's blowing about 150 MPH and it's about 300 below zero and snowing like a son-of-a-gun - a total whiteout - perfect baseball weather, haha! I wish you'd keep that wind up north, Shad! ;)

I'm glad the holidays are over - I so need to get back into some kind of a normal routine (whatever that is) -

I'm trying to catch up on the stack of newspapers that have been accumulating for the past couple of months, and I have yet to see anything about the Rockies that merits any serious consideration. Like Bronco news, the stuff just keeps re-hashing itself. I guess they have to print something, which is too bad.

The only thing that's happening for sure is that Mohr and Relaford will officially become Rockies today - which means some poor schlup will get the axe from the 40-man roster - haven't heard who yet - anyone but Helton is a possibility, I imagine.

Goose Gossage is no longer the Rox' pitching guru - says he's too busy to fit it into his schedule, but don't be surprised if he shows up at spring training camp with the Yankees. Oh well, it's not like he was building a monster pitching staff here, haha!

I thought the Rox were going to get Darren Oliver back, but I've heard some secret deal is in the works with another, so far un-named team. Bummer - I would have liked to see him back.

Well, I guess I better put on a fresh pot of coffee - Mrs. RB has been out shoveling the driveway for the past two hours, and probably could use a break - ;)

DAMM BILL SEND MRS UP THIS WAY TO DO MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First off how did you get her to do that!!! Mine just starts to yell at me and then tells me when I get done to make her dinner then too!!!

Glad to see you and glad you aint froze out!!!

I hate to keep things to myself so I am sharing the wind with you!!!!!

It is about the same weather up here. We are about -30 with the wind chill. It is nasty outside!!!!

Didnt hear that on the Goose but hell he did what he could with Shaq and we saw what happened there... Who knows maybe he got sick of trying to help and no one paying attiont.

I would like that move for Oliver. Heck the way he was hitting for the Rox he might be able to fill in at RF some this year also....

But I would like to try to get down this year for a Cards game because I feel it might be the last time I would get to see Walk and I have never seen the Cards.

Also if the Mrs aint to busy this summer she might be able mow my lawn why you and I get a Casper Rox game in!! :D

As long as we're trading wives, I've got one y'all can have :hmm: ;) Of course, Patty wouldn't be too good on the snow shoveling bit since she thinks below 60° is chilly and anything below 50° is freezing.

A good whiskey over at The Dive appears to be in order. And a bowl of spicy Rocky Mountain Chili as well.

Haha - the Mrs. knows better than to ask me to cook dinner. That happened once, many years ago, and let me tell ya', she wasn't too impressed with crackers, sardines and a Bud! (Although, that is one of my favorite meals at times)

The shoveling is easy for her - she can stack 100 lb. hay bales 10-high on a flatbed all day long - a little snow doesn't slow her down (much)! :) And if it's between mowing a lawn or going to a baseball game, you might be in luck!

I will definitely be at the Cards' games if at all possible. Haven't really checked out the schedule yet, but it's getting to be about time to be thinking about it.

I'm thinking a road trip to Arizona might be in my future this spring - I haven't been down there for a couple years, and the Rangers will be training down there this year for the first time - might be fun. You should talk the Mrs. into a few days in the sun, eh? A few days of 24/7 baseball is good for the soul!

Hi, Willie! I hope the holidays were good for you and yours! And you're right about a good whiskey being in order - in this kind of weather, very little else sounds as good!

What? I didn't know Gossage was working with the Rox? Interesting. I agree though, I am sure that good ole Georgie boy called and of course Goose goes running. :hmm:

Sorry to hear about the snow. I'm right there with ya though, we're expecting 8" plus in the next couple of days, two storms. :eviltongu

Can't stand the snow and cold. I would never survive in Colorado. :laff:
And Willie, I'm right there with your wife, anything below 60 degrees IS indeed chilly and anything below 50 is FREEZING! Glad this is my last winter in New England and northeast.

Whiskey it is, then! The good stuff, too - none of that Ancient Age junk! :D

Your weather sucks, Dan! ;) How about a round of heat? When is that global warming gonna get here? I'm most definitely ready for some of that.

Goose has been with the Rox for the past couple of years, Yags - he had the title of 'Special Assistant to the Big Kahoona', or something like that. All he did was work with the pitchers in spring training and then traveled the minors working with pitchers during the season. He's a Colorado boy - born and raised in Colorado Springs, and still lives there.

Dude, it was like 50 for a week and a half straight practically! I don't think that's too bad for January! It'll be back come this weekend...

Hey, how much snow did you get up your way, Bill? and how bout you Shad?

You're right, Dan - it was very nice Christmas week, and the winter hasn't been really crappy until now. I'm not sure how much snow we got here (around Greeley) - maybe 5 inches? The wind was the kicker, though - a lot of bare ground with scattered 4-foot drifts - lock in the hubs, haha!

Durango53

We only got about 8 inchs. A lot less than the 18 they was saying...

BPBlueSox

Yeah, we got less down here than it looked like we should have...we were in the 3 or 4" range.

And yeah, I remember you saying what town you live in (around Greeley). Heck, one of my friends flew into the little airport you have there the other day...

That's funny! Platteville International is an agricultural strip - Cropdusters-R-Us. I'm about 3 miles from there.

BPBlueSox

Yeah, I never even knew there was an airport there. Is that where the wind profiler is as well?

I think the 'official' data comes from the meteorlogical tower at Ft. St. Vrain, the ex-nuke power plant just north of town - it's still maintained by NOAA, or whatever those initials are, haha -

Sweet.

(yeah it's NOAA)
