The Tribe finally got their #3 starter. I think Millwood is no worse than Clement, Leiber, or Wells all three of whom the Tribe failed to sign. It's an intereasting deal too. $3 million guaranteed with another 4 should he spend less than 20 days on the DL and another 1 if he makes 34 starts or gets 215 innings. For every day over 20 days on the DL he loses 1/183rd the $4 mil including the 20 days on the DL. But in true Boras fashion, the contract stipulates that the injury must occur while Millwood is pitching and not hitting or fielding. Good signing.

I agree; good signing. If Milwood can revert to his Atlanta form, then the Indians will have one heckuva pitcher. If he's the shlub that he was while he was in Philadelphia...he's gone after one year. I think that if the Indians' rotation can be a little bit above average, the division is theirs. The offense was pretty good last season, and the only hitter who I think will go down from last year is Martinez. The bullpen was pretty good toward the end of the season after everyone knew his role and Wickman was the closer. The rotation is a question mark - Sabathia is overrated but an above average pitcher, yett he only had an ERA below 4.00 once. Westbrook came from out of nowhere last season, it might be a fluke. Lee started off very strong, but collapsed after the All-Star break. Nobody expects Elarton, or maybe Jason Davis to do anything productive. And then there's Milwood, who is not the same pitcher after leaving Atlanta.

Good signing for the Indians and not that expensive for good potential.

Interesting deal. Excellent signing for the Tribe. With Millwood too, comes the winning attitude (having pitched in Atlanta) so that will only help the young Indian team.

Good signing especially considering if a bust, he's gone after a year. Wise decision on both parts.

Im confused as to how you would definitely be able to determine if he was injured while pitching... or while fielding?? and arent they sort of one in the same??

I would have to guess that it would mean in the process of throwing a ball to home and not first. But I suppose it would be hard to clarify if a nagging injury turns for the worse. He could easily say he hurt it coming off the mound to field a bunt and protects his money. It's just Boras analizing every little piece of information to protect his client.
