The Devil Rays today announced the signing of free-agent outfielder Danny Bautista to a one-year deal contingent upon his passing a physical. Bautista is likely to start the season as the Rays' everyday left fielder due to center fielder Rocco Baldelli's knee injury, which will force incumbent left fielder Carl Crawford to move to center until Baldelli returns. Several teams expressed interest in Bautista, 32, who hit .286 with a career high-matching 11 homers and a career-high 65 RBIs last season for Arizona. In parts of 12 seasons, he has a career .272 average playing for the Tigers, Braves, Marlins and Diamondbacks.
