LEFT-HANDER JOE KENNEDY, who set a franchise record for starters with a 3.66 earned-run average in his Rockies debut last year, said too much is made of Coors Field.
"I heard the same stuff that everybody else had said or heard, that the ball flies and I don't want to pitch there," Kennedy, acquired last winter from Tampa Bay, told Bigleaguers.com, the Web site of the Major League Baseball Players Association. "It has turned out, however, to be fun for me.
"I think some of the stuff I had heard in the past about Coors was a little overrated. Some of the newer parks that have come along are very hitter-friendly, as well. Coors Field is more a singles field than a home run field. There are some other stadiums that are just as easy, if not easier, to homer in."
Kennedy, 9-7 overall, went 6-1 with a 3.59 ERA in 14 starts at Coors Field and 3-6 with a 3.73 ERA on the road.
